I was at a meeting last week where the speaker basically pressured the one newcomer to share (I HATE when people do that!).
It turns out she had had years of sobriety, went out, and now has terminal cancer.
She came back because she wants to die sober, and she wants to be fully present and not drinking in whatever remaining time she has left.
WOW. Really made me realize how petty my daily gripes and stresses are in comparison. My hat is off to that woman.

I had a man who was there when I first walked into AA always say he wanted to die in clean sheets. He did. I didnt understant at first but now I do. GRACE.
That is incredible. When I first got here, I would not have been able to understand that way of thinking at all! In fact, it is twisted, but I used to wish I were dying so I could say "eff it" and just give in to drinking the rest of my life away. It saddens me that for 23 years I never knew how good life could be, and how in 24 hours you could reset your whole life's goals, dreams, and ambitions and make each day your best day. Though it would wear me out to do so 100% as we do need to rest our bodies if we love ourselves, I like the idea of living each day as if it were your last. Loving like there's no tomorrow. Don't let a day go by without telling the people you love how much you love them. Pray like you are meeting your maker upon awakening and before you go to bed. We never know how much time we have on this earth, but we can do our best TODAY, and our best does not include drinking and drugging, and stinkin thinkin. PEACE! Heather
