Disease woke up before I did

Woke up in a funk, that's the way I always woke up. 9 months sober and I don't like that feeling any more. I used to thank that was the way life was. Today I know better, I have a choice today I choose to be happy. That simple!

I hear you Piney Bob...

When I was still in the throes of this disease and still thirsting for my next drink, the prospect of having this disease my alcoholism- wake me up before I usually do, is frightening enough in itself. You combine that with a strong desire to drink uncontrollably and a condemnation that would compel you to drink against your will, than you have the makings of train wreck waiting to happen.

I thank God for his grace, and for lifting that merciless obsession from me: Allowing this recovering alcoholic the privilege of enjoying life as it was meant to be, safe and sober- one day at a time.
