Hi All, As I posted some weeks ago, my sponsor turned flaky but has now taken to ringing me. I was pleased until I actually realised she was after something I had materially. I am disappointed but not surprised. Though I have agreed to give here the item, I am actually going to cancel that arrangement and just say that it no longer suits and apologise saying I had not properly thought it through. I went ahead and took the fifth step on thursday and am moving onto to the sixth, so I am pleased about that. I am moving on from the present sponsor I have, I am grateful for what I did get but cannot allow myself to be taken advantage of by people I do not trust as to me that is not good self-care and belongs to my drinking days.

Hi, Recovery is sort of a hospital of sorts. Each brings to it their own version of illness. It is good to be careful, not to add to our own version. Sounds like you are not adding to yours. Good. Wayne
Yes whatever it takes for us to work the best program for ourselves.Everything is not for the rooms, and even though we are working a process we still have to be didligent.Sounds like you are doing what is good for you...Good job on your 5th,feel the freedom!!!

Hey Maire, The program is an evolution. It takes a bit to find the right combination when dealing with people. Sorry this sponsor turned out to be all too human! Congrats on the 5th step and prayers for the rest! Tom

Sponsors are human too. My guess is is wasn't all about her wanting the material item...but that was enough to make you question her motives. Remember not to be so black and white when dealing with others. Trust should come in degrees...it does not have to always be all or nothing. We all struggle with extremes I think so you aren't alone in this one...
