I am so bored and lonesome! I've been home since Saturday with the flu and now this weather is supposed to keep us all home until Thursday. I haven't been to a meeting since last Wednesday, aaaagggh!
I'm so mad at myself for not getting cable service... and I wish I would've gotten the ingredients to make a dessert... my sponsor is making herself a German Chocolate cake....!
Why doesn't anyone hang out in the AA chat room here?

I've had to go for two weeks without meetings twice so far. Coming here helps, as does reading the big book, exercising, and keeping the 12 steps in mind. Also, keeping ahead of my thoughts and diverting them if they get too morose.

I guess it's pretty bad in the Midwest. We've had a lot of snow and icey roads here in Atlanta this year, and of course there is no plows or salt, they just wait for it to warm-up.
My home-group is weds @ 8:00, a few weeks ago the roads where wet and getting icy and the temperatures where dropping, and they where starting to close roads.
One guy within walking distance had a key to the church and went over in case someone showed up. I couldn't believe they had 16 people show up (normally have about 40).

Im temporarily in shorts and flip flops myself vacationing in sunny Fla ! Man, Im so blessed.
Ive been following the weather at home tho and they have 14" of new snow and its still blowing and drifting in Michigan. Lots of businesses and schools closed.
Im trying to find somebody back home to see that all the snow is melted by the time I get back there at the end of the month , lol. I doubt thats gonna happen!
Oh well, Im sober and thats what counts. I use to drink with a guy ( who ultimately drank himself to death .. big Larry was his name, nice guy ) and he use to say, " I dont care if it rains or freezes, long as Im safe in the hands of Jesus ".
Here in Ohio it's been pretty bad (and by bad I don't really mean bad for us here in my house, but just severe). Ice everywhere a couple of days ago. And now it's cold, down close to zero, with snow on the ground and lots of wind. My wife is a teacher and we have two little kids in school and preschool, and they've been off since they got home on Monday.
I love it, though. I didn't go to work on Tuesday and then half of yesterday, either- lots of time to spend at home that I don't usually get. I love winter. But I'll love the spring when it gets here, too. I like the change of all of the seasons.
Everybody take care of you and yours, and keep in touch with sober people, and just dig on life.
(And yes, there are times when I need to take that advice too, when I'm not doing it so much. But right now things are well).
