Just about the only good thing in an awful film was the reading of WH Auden's Funeral Blues in 4 weddings and a Funeral. But I digress.

Sitting here, suited and booted, working and waiting for my mate to come round, so we can go to another mate's funeral. Crematorium at 1:30 pm, wake at 2 p.m. 100 miles away.

Got a meeting set up for tonight, I reckon I'll need the company of like minded souls tonight as I fear there will be a surfeit of emotion this afternoon among the civilians.

I'll keep in touch.

Hi Bill,
One thing I learned riding motorcycles, (81 FLH HD ) was "when riding on slippery roads slow
down and then maintain speed "
Holding on,
Toad

Yep, an emotional time. 300 seat crematorium, and there were people packing the aisles and maybe 50 of us outside. A well respected man. Great comfort to his widow and his son. His son was totally blown away that so many people shifted their collective arses to attend, his widow kinda knew what sort of man he ws and how well he ws thought of.

And a good meeting to boot at the end of the day (aren't they all good?). Met a newcomer lives near me, arranged to hit a meeting with him tomorrow.

Survived God's pressure test - let's tempt Bill and see if he's going to go back to his old behaviours - temptation survived in a good way, without hurting anyone. Thank you God.

As sad and depressing as the funeral story was, the most important part was passing the pressure test, because you may have been next in line to be in the "hot seat" at the crematorium. Glad you shared.

Ahem, the pressure test involved me and a young and plainly needy and vulnerable lady. The temptation would be to manipulate and accept the plainly offered invitation for my own gratification. Which would have been the wrong thing to do. But bloody tempting none the less. It was difficult to do the right thing without causing unneccesary hurt. It would have caused more people more lasting hurt to accept the invitation. Fortunately my Higher Power stayed my hand and gave me thinking time and the will to do the right thing in the right way. Fortunately similar topics have been covered here, which also changed and formed my reasoning. (you know who you are!)
