Prayer in trouble times.

I found the following to be very true whenever I am really in my darkest hour.
"If something is troubling, the  recommendation is to pray without ceasing. Even though we cannot see or hear, it does not matter. God who sees our hearts, will hear and release that burden. That's why sometimes difficult situations are encountered to enable us to strenghten our faith in God. He will NEVER put us beyond our endurance. This is the God whom we serve. Walk by faith and not by sight."

I found myself, prior to sobriety, feeling guilty about only addressing God in troubled times. It was a spring day, and one of those perfect euphoric feeling days, after a long winter. For the first time ever, I paused and expressed my gratitude for such a fine day. That was a true breakthrough in my spirituality.

Prayer is the only way to elevate the souls ability in my opinion. To say that anything else can do this is to deny that there is one who has all power that one is God. We can demonstrate that power but it does no comefrom us. IMHO.
