Hi Fred. I also would like to welcome you to the board. Have been sober for a while, but I gotta keep comming here--cause Im not all there:)-plus the rest of the suggested "Do Things" daily.

Its a whole new ballgame-top of the first. AA is pitching--and youre up to bat. With AA pitching, its pretty hard to strike out. Just gotta stay away from the kid in the stands that yells "Cold Beer"  Ide likely steal his whole tray-cause one would just not be enough.":)

Welcome again. Fred.    Phil

Post Acute Withdrawal symptoms>?   When the body goes into complete shock from lack of Alcohol?  I still go through it emotionally and mentally some days. Physicals ok now tho.

All I know Fred--itll get better as each day goes by.:) Excercise--vitamins-juices and stuff help to.--and big juicy pizzas with 32 toppings.:)

Oh yeah! I'm very familiar w/PAWS. Mostly mine is dreams, very vivid, in color, sometimes frightening.  I forget things, everything from my car keys to a word.  I can hardly wait to see what's next! I've also noticed my spelling can be off or I leave out complete words in typing !! Old timeres say it gets better...... I'm not worried. I just tell everyone I have a case of CRS or some-timers.

How about you? How are you doing? Any experiences w/paws for you?

I hope all is well. Hang in there.......

i started detox on the second of this month,,and its 23 days later,,and after detox was done(aprox. 6 days before they put me on rehab status),,,and 2 weeks later i had some recurring sweats and chills,,not as heavy as detox and was told by therapist in rehab it was due to PAWS,,so ive been looking up on it since i got out since all i got was a handout while was in,, it will increase on cycles(2 weeks,,4 weeks,,3 months,,6months,,9 monts,,12 months,,24 months,,36 months),,peak would be within 6 months,,and should get less and less over the 24-36 month period,,,the intensity and type of symtoms depend on the person and/or drug of choice(mine was alcohol)

symptoms include,,

achy muscles,,sweats,,shakes,,insomnia,,anxiety,,nausea,,dizziness,,emotional highs and lows,,etc,,(pretty vague if you ask me),,

thats what ive read up so far

Hmmm...never really heard a term for it, but the symptoms sound familiar. Shaking, night sweats, vivid dreams, insomnia, emotional highs and lows...yeah, been through it all. It lasted about a month for me, than started to calm down a bit. Then I started the forgetful period...couldn't remember anything for awhile. A friend of mine explained all the physicological stuff to me, but I won't go into it, cuz I'd probably get it wrong anyway.

The solution? I went to a health food store and described my symptoms and got some herbal remedies. That helped...and going to lots of meetings and talking about what I was going through. In addition to that, my sponsor got me busy right away...she had me making coffee before the meeting, standing at the door greeting and introducing myself as people came in, and cleaning up afterwards. It kept me busy and got me out of my head. Phil talked about pizza but for me it's alway gonna be about the chocolate...gooey, sticky, bumpy chocolate!!

It will get better...it may take some time but it will get better. If it gets too bad and you think it's better to get drunk than go through this, please consult your doctor and see if there is something that he/she can suggest.

Love, cheri
