The reward of a thing well done is to have
done it.
--Emerson

The same miracle that started our recovery from addiction gave us a chance for a second life. It also brought us a purpose in life. This was something we had lacked for years. This purpose for our life makes it possible to achieve a state of happiness and peace of mind.

This purpose is to help others. Unless our hearts are filled with the principles of our new way of life, we are not doing our best. The spiritual growth that comes from pursuing a purpose in life makes each day a joy for us and makes our existence worthwhile. Long-timers remind us, "Be as enthusiastic about your recovery as you were about your addiction."

I never want to say, "This I must do." I want to say, "This I want to do." Serving a purpose in life is only a small repayment for the gift of recovery.

I read your post down below Rick, and yup-yup-yup.

I dont know bout you buddy, but this kids getting rid of the stuff that just doesnt matter.

Our lives can get so cluttered with material stuff, and other things, that it just becomes work. It becomes stressful, and theres just no enjoyment in it any more.

Got a business here, thats being sold shortly. Im tired of being tied to it 130 hours a week. Its served its purpose. --went through all the "toy stages", and the "I want" stages.

Have people in my life I wish to spend time with, and enjoy life with. Going to do that. Going to enjoy the sunsets, and the moonlit strolls-going to smell the roses in the garden--going to get out there and have some fun for a change--and if I hafta work at MacDonalds--flipping hamburgs--for cigarrette money--who cares? :)

Life is just too damned short Bud.

Happiness comes from within-not all this material sh---t. And sometimes we just hafta say-enough is enough--take our losses and truck on. How important is it-really?

Hey!! Im glad to hear that your Grandaughters home, and that everythings ok. Youre sober Pal-BE HAPPY.
