"About this slip business - I would not be too discouraged. I think you are suffering a great deal from a needless guilt. God is not asking us to be successful. He is only asking us to try to be. That you surely are doing and have been doing.. So I would not stay away from AA through any feeling of discouragement or shame. It's just the place you should be."
I show these words of Bill to sponsees or others who feel bad about a slip, and they find them comforting. I hope they may bring comfort to anyone out there who is feeling bad about a slip.
(((Tom))) *Smiling* That's the spirit!!! EEK! maybe not the best choice of words there *smiling*
I was smiling to myself thinking about what one of my slipped sponsees said to me re my attitude after her slip- she said I reminded her of a bossy english nanny .....it was just a case of
"Ok! Chop! Chop! Start again ...off we go Day one!!!"
We were both aware of the seriousness of it yet the humour helped enormously.
I told her I want and expect the same from her if I ever slip!!!!!!
