Back Pain Anyone?

I got my Mri results yersterday. It shows I have a ruptured disk, I will be starting physical therapy for 6-8weeks. I have sciatica (pinched nerve in my back), plus arthritis in my back. They also found a cyst on my ovaries ( it might explain why I look 5 months pregnant).

I am on medicade after having heart surgery 9 months ago. Pretty much had to go on SSI because the cost of my medications.

From my personal experiences throught the years I dont have a-lot of faith in the healthcare world. Dont get me wrong, there are good doctors out there. But there are also a-lot of Quacks!!!!!!!!

My questions:  Has anyone gone thru therapy for their back? What kind of results did you recieve? Any relief from the pain? Surgery after  therapy? What helps the most with your back pain? I've tried all different sorts of medications... maybe one that works for some-one out there...I have not been perscribed.

I thought it was a hassle getting to an AA metting having one piece of shit for a car!!!!!!!

We are working on getting another vehicle...so I can not only make it to some meetings...but the physical therapy sessions...any Prayers would sure be appreciated!!

Just for the hell of it I'll give you one example of one of my doctor experiences. Partly because it starting to piss me off ( I keep going out to the kitchen, Doug is off today and cleaning out the cabinets) Good guy...but he's had me go to the kitchen  at      least 10 times in the  last 10 minutes. Oh my God, now here he comes in here. I'm about ready to beat him up!!!!! I wont use the caps lock button, Im bound to scare ya'll off if ...If I havent already!

Last year in November, I coulnt take the pain in my back anymore. I went to the emergency room. Explained the pain was getting to be too much, I believed it was taking a toll on my body. I was completly exausted, couldn't hardy get around, was out of breath. Took my blood pressure(off the charts). Adviced to see my family doc,( explained I didnt have one) because of no insurance. I was treated like a second class citizen. In my opinion I believe they thought I was a "pill head". Its true that probally see a-lot of that in the ER.  I was given 3 day supply of pain pills and sent along on my merry way.

2 weeks later I was packing to move, Dougs nephew was helping me. I kept pushing my-self because I kept putting it off, didnt want to do much of anything except drink my beer and smoke a little weed, and smoke my cigs. Started feeling like someone was squezzing my chest, started sweating, feeling dizzy, I said screw it...told Dougs nephew call 911.

Docs rushed around doing all kinds of tests. Was admitted, stayed a week... waiting for a bed at the so called "Free Hospital".

Went home for a few days after I was so called "stable". Family members talked me into go to the ER at the free hospital. After another 5 days there ( Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend).

Finally Monday, Had a Cardiac Cath. Docs said they got to me "just in time"I was about to get a brand new $40.000 heart. My main artery was blocked 90% and 2 others 80%. So I have 3 heart  stents and 1 balloon. I know, I know  Stop Smoking...I did for 6 weeks and I'll try again...One addiction at a time!!!

Thanks for listening

Nancy Jo

Well, Nancyjo--its sounds like youve been on quite a ride. Been on a few of those rides-different roads, maybe, but the same ride.

All I can share with you is one thing at a time, one day at a time-slow the train down into low gear gal, and just do the best you can.

19 years ago I was told that Ide be in a wheelchair in 5 years--for life. Went to phsyo, couple times a week for 12 years.

2 years ago--I was told to expect the worst-re cancer

Thats the short story.

Today--im here, and kickin ass. :)

Your back? Dont know if its of any help to you, but I have what they call a Tens machine--just a little battery operated thingy with wires and pads-i can place those pads in any area of my back I wish to, and electrons are transmitted--Wore that machine for a long time. Today-its sitting in a drawer collecting dust--dont need it.

Tried the pill method for back stuff--put me right out to lunch. Today ,--I take the odd 222-or something mild, if needed, for back pain. Pushing lawn mowers and furniture around doesnt help--but you know we alkys. We are a stubborn lot.:)

Went through that heart stuff too, when I first got sober-pumpin like a firetruck today.

Youll get through the tunnels--sober-one day at a time.:) in slow mode. It can only be overwhelming, if you let it be.:)

Now-back pain or not--give us a hand to row this boat will yu.? :)

Hi NJ

I know all too well about ruptured disk. I had two in my neck, c6 & 7. I tried physical therapy, didn't do a thing for me.  It got sooo bad I finally had surgery last summer, had 2 titanium plates put in, as my disk was completly blown out. Still suffer some but not nearly like it was. However, I have found that since I've gotten off the booze my neck, shoulders and back feels soooo much better. Plus I tend to exercise more than just lifting a 12 oz these days - lol.  That slip I had a week ago, well, the pain came back right away, but now that some time has passed the pain is gone.

i will pray for you. I know all too well about that kind of pain.

Keep me posted

Love and peac
