Thanks for the hugs, prayers and thoughts...I am doing this deal one day at a time. One foot in front of the other, one step forward , 2 back. Last night was an 8th Step meeting, amends...have had to make a few of those this week to my husband. You know the head knows he is a sick person but the heart just wants to hurt for what may never be.

It takes a lot to make me angry these days but I have been on an emotional rollercoaster these last 2 weeks. Anger is one of the feelings I've had to deal with, resentments, I can't afford. I am an Alcoholic, as sick as he is, I just don't drink.

I'm trying to check in when I get a minute.

Have a great day of sobriety.

(((Hugs)))

Lost for words again Gammy

The only thing I can think of is "WE LOVE YOU" "We understand" "And We Stand by You"

Some of those roller coaster rides are hell. The anger--expectations-the pain and hurt--its all real. We feel how we feel.

Hang Tough Our Freind. Hang Tough!! Youve been one of the many people that have helped me get through a few tunnels, when there was no light.

Anything I can do for you my freind--I will. I mean anything.

Keep in touch.

Hey Gammy, I dunno how I go about getting a hug to your hubby. Will you pass one on for me, and hold tight long enough to get one out of it too?

Thinking of you...lots. Hang in there. Do you have "bush retreats" over there?..Places out in the middle of nowhere, often Hindi or Buddhist like teachings...not always...they involve a natural detox alongside a "retreat" from the real world (hustle and bustle). We have mens, womens and adolescents ones, and they often have food drug and alcohol restrictions, cultural and environmental studies sometimes, group work, personal reflections and self analysis as part of their programs. Maybe your Navaho's do something like that?..dunno. They are not rehabs as such, but have been very effective for many over here, and sometimes provide something of a detour past the "already tried and it was no good" options - and have led to many an awakening which has helped to change peoples view of themselves and their contribution to the planet. Maybe the judge might consider it, if it can be shown he is actively trying to keep searching for recovery? Dunno...just thought I'd mention it.

Hey Nic, I did give my husband a big hug, and he returned it. So passin' it on to you ((((((BIG HUG)))))),and he does give great hugs.

I will check into the type of retreats you are talking about, don't know of any here. But the research will do me good.We were at a parade yesterday with our granddaughter, saw the judge, my husband said "Hello" and the man turned his head the other way. I don't know if that was intentional , but I think it was.

My husbands peer counceler ask me if I was sure my husband didn't have any Native American blood, I said " We've looked into that, there is none. Irish and Welsh." So that blew his theory on why he was not sober after all these years.

We have a man in our group who will be sober 5 years this month, Native American, in and out of prison for years, homeless, rode the trains. He settled in our small town, meet a beautiful woman, started coming to AA meetings. He is 56 years old and the proud sober Dad of a 2 year old daughter, miracles still happen in this program of life. Nic, you and I, are living prove of that.

((((Hugs))))
