So I started attending daily meetings Saturday, and even went to two yesterday. I am really serious about getting a life back, and found a sponsor to help me stay sober as well.
Ive been reading The Grapevine, watching movies on recovery and going to lots of meetings. What else has helped you guys stay sober.
I feel like my head is so full of getting sober it almost hurts at times!
However, relax, take it easy. Staying sober isn't easy ( and nobody ever told me it would be either ) but it is possible and you can do it. Your sponsor wont keep you sober. Your sponsor will ( or should ) share their esh with you and guide you thru the 12 steps.
Enjoy the ride, the journey and the whole experience of getting and staying sober.
WooHoo!!! So glad you found a sponsor, and I hope she gets you started on a great path to recovery and happiness!! Getting involved with other women in AA helps me tremendously. I sought out a women's meeting where the women there do something together afterward, and all at the meeting are welcome to join. It's often the "meetings after the meetings" (going out for coffee, or a bite to eat, etc...) where I meet and get to know those special girls that I now feel comfortable picking up the phone, day or night, to call when I feel out of sorts.
Stick with it and keep coming back, to meetings and here also!!
:o)

Oh, you are so lucky to have found a sponsor. How did you find one?
Just listen to people talk, and when you hear someone who sounds like they have something you want, ask 'em after the meeting. If they're not available, they'll probably steer you towards someone who is. If not, try again at the next meeting.
Sounds like a good start! I am all in favor of working a thorough program, but don't exhaust yourself with it. I was told to slow down early on cuz I thought I would be more sober if I did more stuff related to sobriety and that I could plow through the steps right away...This is where the saying "easy does it" comes in. You don't want to get the idea that sobriety is taxing...cuz it really isn't. Take it easy :) But.....great job also.

Katie, Sounds like a great start. Meetings are important. Go to lots of them. Finding a sponsor is also another great step. Practice calling them on a daily basis and let them know what's going on in your head. Ask your sponsor about the steps and when you can get started. I've found that surrendering(totally) to this diesase and the honest desire to change who I was went a long way. Like others have said; take it slow- Easy Does It! We're great sprinters but this is a marathon and a solid pace will take you much further into recovery. keep coming back and sharing with us.
Making lots of friends in the program and hanging out with them, Getting a home group, attending a weekly step meeting, sharing a house with other sober people, reading "Staying sober".
