There are certain things that can bring people together, and even smooth over difficult moments with your soon-to-be-ex-spouse...

Meet Scooter, 10 week old Norwegian Elkhound pup.

That is an awesome photo... what did Scooter think of a wood floor? I always love watching dogs on a wood floor for the first time...

LOL... Scooter, like my older dog, was vexxed by the hardwood floors (Brazilian Cherry?? dunno Rob84... This bldg is about 85 yrs old....)

They both stayed pretty well confined to area rugs, leaping from one to another... lol

The puppy breath was a as sweet as sugar!

What cuties!

I remember wanting a Norwegian Elkhound when I was a kid--someone my dad knew bred them, and since I'm mostly of Norwegian heritage, and the dogs were so friendly and bouncy, I wanted one.  I think my folks thought they were a bit TOO bouncy and enthusiastic, and we wound up getting a Scotty (another nice breed--big dog attitude in a small package).

I love dogs, but living alone and with my job I wouldn't be able to give them the attention they need.

We have always known Elkhounds to be very calm dogs.... but they are naturally enthusiastic when around eachother and pups, of course... they LOVE children though and are so good with them. Can't say enough about Elkies....

Some have a tendency toward skin cancer (keratoacanthomas) though, which is the case in my female (5 yrs old). She is going next week for another round of surgical intervention. The lesions do not metastasize though, which is a blessing. The pup's lineage shows no skin cancers. Let's hope for the best (although he is not MY dog, for the record...).

The SHEDDING is a whole other ball of wax. Intense shedding. Year-round. I am loving hardwood floors now, where that is concerned. Swiffer Swiffer Swiffer!!

hi jj.... need to first post the picture on the internet, like a photo sharing site (like photobucket, or even facebook)

Then open a new message or a reply in "Advanced Editor" (see that tab below, right here...) and it will ask for the image URL when you click on the little picture icon.

~~~~Easier~~~~
OR put your photo online, and then drag across it to highlight/select it with your mous, copy and paste it into the body of a message.
(((hugs))))
Nice dogs Joni & JJ.  My dog is very quiet and provides me with a great deal of peace and serenity.  Sometimes I'll just take her for a ride and she sits in the passager sit admiring the surroundings but doesn't back seat drive.  LOL-
