it happens...

did that a time or two myself, in the past 6 years I have been coming here...

in fact, I have seen more delete themselves and come back than not, I think....

hopefully he will be back.

I feel we all have our different ways of expressing ourselves and, perhaps too, on a message board with no facial signals to see - things can sometimes come across in a way not intended.

Sometimes I balk at posts - the same as some people perhaps balk at some of mineno

I have seen folk in F2F meetings get a resentment against somebody one time, and they are never able to listen with an open mind to what that person has to say ever again - however powerful or useful a message that person has to carry.  I try to take each share on it's value as I hope folks do with mine - sometimes I will no doubt be wide of the mark with my own sharing.

If one person and I do not see eye to eye in a meeting, I do not abandon that meeting. If anything, it is easier for me to avoid somebody I don't see eye to eye with here.......just don't read their posts.

I wonder sometimes at what point the accused "bully" ends up being the "bullied".

Cries of "Oh that person might upset the newcomer" I often sense ring hollow and untrue - they smack of running the show.  Yes, our common welfare is essential, but possibly inadvertantly hounding out somebody because they may carry the message in a way some don't approve of seems wrong.

Ago, if you're around, I value you and your message........not saying I haven't cursed sometimes.........but then I've cursed at Dean's honesty too !!!wink

With love Louisa
xx

Sometimes I think what works well when you are one-on-one with another person, where you can gauge reactions, doesn't translate so well online. There is less give-and-take, neither person has a chance to clarify any misunderstandings before the response is sitting out there for all to read. And sometimes very good points are made but lost on the readers because of the delivery.

I know I've misunderstood others' intentions and been misunderstood, myself. Some of that is inevitable, and it happens face-to-face, too. But words that are fleeting when spoken can remain for a long time when they are written.

Mindfulness when writing and reading is a good thing.

I wish AGO the best.

I very much agree, and Andrew was good at it.  I guess there were a few that didn't understand where he was coming from, and maybe didn't take this deadly problem as seriously as he did.  He always made me think, and was able to put perspective on things for me.  I have to remember that when I don't keep an open mind, I miss things that I may need, and also that I can always take what I need and leave the rest.

I always have to remember that we try our best to share our experience, strength, and hope with each other, and that some people are simply sicker than others.  I've seen many "tender hearted" people get offended in meetings, and also do the offending, and I've seen that affect sobriety.  Today, I don't take things personally, especially things I read online.  I gotta say, MIP is like one big loving kindergarten playroom compared to one of the other forums I'm involved in!

I hope to see him around sometime...I will miss his experience greatly.

I have no idea why he deleted.... let's just keep that in mind.... everyone has their own reasons, and it is not necessarily due to hurt feelings... some people just get tired of this and need a break.

Even I admit he made some good points....though I got blazing mad at him once. Shrug. I got over it and I thought he did too. I cannot afford to stay angry at anyone for long. I truly can't. I get that. I wish I got it before I spoke out and acted like a jerk sometimes but that is where I need to work on that "restraint of pen and tongue thing" a little more. I have some experience, strength, and hope, but on this board, all I claim to be is a person who is sober today with 1 year and 9 months sobriety (time only matters in that it does give you a reference to what you could expect of me at this juncture...I am not a newcomer persay, but pretty green nonetheless.

I do take this board seriously though because like Angela and Lorna and a few others here, It was a HUGE part of me staying sober earlier on. Pinkchip = the chip given at meetings down here for when you have 60 days. That is when I joined this site and started posting.

AGO! If you are lurking.....................come back! You cracked me up and you were a real positive to the site! You told it as you saw it with very little side sauce. That is refreshing in todays world. I considered you the best "technician" on the board and the most willing to pursue a point to its origin. Its an opinion board! You are never going to make everyone happy! We are human and are prone to errors in perception about how things are projected! I am probably the most perfect poster on this site, but you were a close second!ashamed I also want Jerry F to come back.  If you guys need the space thats fine, but come back when you had a break.  You are actually being selfish and "holding back" on your duties to "reach others" if you leave us hanging.  Seriously, please check back and at least tell us how you are guys are doing. We..........care......about.............you!!!

As a mod on another MIP site, these types of threads can cause some uncomfortableness because no one really knows the whole story behind why someone chooses to leave a site. All we can do is respect that members choice, wish them well, and hope that someday that member does return...

Amen, Dave. Best put it to rest until the person may or may not at some point return.

AGO is welcome back anytime he wants, as he's on a sabbatical.
