I remember the group "Miracles In Progress" and John from "Firetalk" days.

I have been in 12 step recovery since Jan 94 and in AA since Dec 97 and sober since Dec 2000. Have learned alot since then.

Willingness to change I think stands out as one of the most important attributes of recovery.

Learning the AA material is next.

Action is next on the list. Willingness to go to face-to-face meetings, listen and take suggestions.

My sponsor just celebrated 56 years of continuous sobriety at age 93. He still goes to meetings when able. They call him Repitious Leon.

We are not to make AA our sole vocation, but in the begining it is good to make it very important. There were times when I would hit 2 or even 3 meetings a day.

When the promises are read and it says "amazed before you are half-way through," they are talking about half-way through step 9.

I am grateful for learning about getting involved in a home group and then getting involved in other ways. Getting involved means I am invested in my recovery program and giving back means I get back. If I put effort into recovery I get back things like, good feelings, serenity and happiness.

There is no problem I have encountered while in recovery that someone else hasn't gone through so AA has become a wealth of knowledge and experience when dealing with the trials of life. "We are not alone."

Thank you AA,

Ben F

Thank You odaat.  I have the hardest time, sometimes putting how I feel and getting my thoughts out and down, but you have helped me put words to a lot of how I feel.

Good Stuff!!!

Congraduations to your Sponsor!!  Wish I could meet him.  I not only listen to the newcomer, but pay close attention to those who are and have been walking and talking the walk for a while.  They have done and seen so much.  How could I not learn from them.

Thanks again!!

Thanks, Ben and Welcome! I'm still in my first year and I appreciate what you had to share. Please keep coming back and thanks for helping to keep me sober another day.

Peace,
Rob
