No worries Laurie....everything is fine! That was a joke up there! (I gotta remember to put more smileys and stuff in) Addiction isn't funny...but some of the stuff we do is!
Q: How do you know when a classroom is used mostly for drug & alcohol rehab? A: ALL the pencils & pens have been chewed on.
Right here, right now....everything is good! No heart-break required! In fact, since I've been in IOP and can bring home some science about addiction, my newly graduated nursing student wife is much more understanding of why recovery is a tougher way of life than addiction and why it's gotta be done on my HP's & my terms. Between IOP & meetings, I'm currently putting 17 hours a week into sobriety work.
Some very wise people here pointed out that I have nothing to expect from my wife and I know that it's by the Grace of god that I didn't lose my family to my addiction. AND I have friends who care about me...I'm blessed!
I often want to reply to your threads but worry I'm not witty enough. Seems you are over the hump with the domestic intensity. I myself have had a shitty horrible weekend and could use a joke. So here is one for all. I heard it a work last week and tailored it to AA:
Dude is supposed to chair his meeting and runs into heavy traffic around the corner from the club and finds himself driving in circles trying to get a parking place. Now running really late, and truly desperate, he cries, "God, help me find a parking spot so I can do the right thing!" Just then someone pulls out of a spot right in front. Dude shouts out, "God, never mind, I found one myself."

Angel - I'm sorry. The exchange actually took place, after three trips to the freezer with a small bowl and yes...the vanilla ice cream (BORE-ING!!!!!) was actually, inmy mind, just a vehicle to get the chocolate syrup into my mouth. If we didn't have any vanilla ice-cream than I would have probably made a cup of coffee and "mocha-ized" it with globs of chocolate syrup.Yeah, we're over the hump. I LOVED the parking joke! Bill - The alanon joke is priceless!
