Hello. I am new here. I have been sober before but have never worked the program. I could never get past the step where you have to be honest about everything I did out there. I know I need to do this. I stop using yesterday and I am needing to get a sponsor. I think I need an older sponsor. I am going to do this this time. Thanks for listening.

HI,
Good luck with your attempt.
A.A. worked for me. For that I am grateful.

Hi Mike,
Welcome, you have made a great start. The program of recovery, the 12steps works very well if you start to work it the way the AA book suggests. Keep coming back.

congrats Mike on your first day,,,one day at a time ,you seem to know the road to take so on you go! You are correct about needing a sponsor, but getting honest is the antidote to our illness and that has to come from you whether your sponsor is 18 or 80..let us know how its going   nice meeting you!!smile

Welcome to the cyber fellowship.  We're from diverse regions of the globe here.  Thankfully the only requiement to stay put is some general courtesy and willingness.  You seem to have both.  Apply it to a new AA program if you want and come here to share how it's going on.  Hope to see you around.

hi Mike!!  glad to meet you.  this is the right place for looking for help and encouragement.  sounds like you are on the right track looking for an older sponsor.   action is the key... pick one and start talking and asking questions.
meetings, meetings, and more meetings.  it helps us get through our self imposed hell.

Mike, hello and welcome !

Please dont be afraid of working the steps. They are the key to your sobriety and happiness for a lifetime.

Yes, get a good sponsor .. One who will take you thru the BB and guide you thru the steps.

Dont take the first drink and ya cant get drunk !

Welcome Mike and thank you for choosing us as part of your recovery process.

Also, since your handle is "The Texan", we have now filled our quota and can stop looking for another one. We have other state-representatives, as well.

"The Alaskan" posts a lot about lonliness.
"The Californian" has lots of solutions and is just waiting for the rest of us to catch up.
"The New Yorker" is surprised that the rest of us can read at all and posts thousands of words with very few points.

Seriously, though...addiction is a bitch and please know that you're not alone. We're here for you. Thanks for keeping me sober another day.

Peace,
Rob

Sorry I didnt respond earlier. I thought I have subcribed to the topic and that nobody answered. I apparently did not subcribe. I have managed to stay sober and I am looking forward to the online meeting on Tuesday. I am looking to buy a car right now as mine was stolen the other day. Again I thank yall. I will start checking this regular now that I know that this board is active. Right now my sobriety is the most important thing to me.
