Howdy Rick-got youre email, and back on the list Bud.
Farming eh? Pretty demanding 3 seasons a year, but very rewarding also.--been there.
Used to cash crop hay--2 tractors, 2 wagons, manure spreader, a hay baler and elevator, 7 cattle, 2 horses, and 1 pig.--oops-forgot about 1 big black rabbit and a hound dog.
Got 400 baby chickens and when they started laying eggs I couldnt sell them fast enough so sold the chickens--stress was too much.:) Was also cutting into my drinking time. Used to talk to them all too--had a hard time remembering their names. The rooster had to go-he just woke up too damned early in the morning.
The 7 head of cattle Ide bought as calves, and when they got to market weight, sold them to a drinking buddy, one night in a hotel for 800 dollars--they were worth 10 times that much.
I see him once and a while, in sobriety, and he just smiles. I know what hes thinkin.
2 horses-- I used to get drunk--throw a saddle on one and put on my cowboy hat, and ride like the wind. If the damned horse ever decided to stop suddenly I wouldnt be here today.
It was a lotta fun tho, playing Roy Rogers at the age of 36.:) Giddy up!!
An acre of Weed (the stuff you smoke) --got more for the weed than the hay.
Whatda yu mean its ilegal?? awww darn.
When I sold that little farm, after getting sober, I found boxes of empty bottles, partly filled bottles, and full bottles hidden all over the place. Still wondering today, who put them there. Doh!!
Insanity? yup. A remember when? yup. Dont tell anyone I shared this with you-they might think Im a bit off key -- roflmao
Have a good day freind.

great farm story there Phil!! A friend of mine who is still a practicing alcoholic, lives on a farm and often rides his horse into town to the hotel..one can often find his horse 'parked' outside..
i told him one day he should put a GPS on his horse...but practice makes correction, the horse knows his way home.
isn't there a song something about beer for my horses??...
