Outside readings"I keep hearing about "real " alcoholics the newcomer said to her sponsor. What is the difference between and alcoholic and a "real" alcoholic? Sponsor says 'The same as the difference between "dead" and real dead"..I love profound statements that make us(group) look at some things may take us form offering real help.(this is old but I feel pertinent at times when controversy might start to blur the message "that each group has but one primary purpose to carry its(4th tradition) message to the alcoholic who still suffers.(Although this board is a message board and not AA , I do feel a group concience) Today I will strive thru prayer and meditation to know the will of the God of my understanding for me, and reach out to those still sick and suffering .To each one of us here, sharing our ESH ,have a blessed and productive day......

Wow, thanks mikef. Good stuff, thanks for shining that big spotlight on what is really important today. Recovery, Unity, Service. We tried to carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers. Nothing deserves the spotlight quite like that does.
To All: have a terrific sober day filled with joy and contentment.

Hi all, isn't it great to have practical answers? not everything is a mystery even though we try to conjure up 'heavy' , 'deep' answers! i am a real alcoholic and would be real dead if AA had not become a big part in my real life. i still have the pretend life with which my committee tries to disrupt my real life. but i just try to stay in the present and see what today's reality IS with my HP's help... not what i wish it to be and not that easier softer way that got me into trouble, so deeply. take care!
