I got my one month chip at one of my favorite meetings tonight.... it hasn't been easy, but worth every ounce of effort. Tonight I'm enjoying the warm glow of gratitude.
My sponsor says: "Whatever you're doing right now, just keep doing it a day at a time."
That would be the following:
1. Getting on my knees and asking my Higher Power to keep me away from a drink and a drug just for today.
2. Reading the Big Book, the 12 & 12, and/or Living Sober every day.
3. Listening to recovery podcasts.
4. Visiting here.
5. Making new friends in recovery and keeping in touch with them.
6. Getting to at least one meeting a day. (I've done 40 meetings in 30 days.)
7. Staying away from that first drink or drug just for today... and if I feel like I want to pick up, repeat any or all of the above steps.
8. Get on my knees at day's end and thank HP for keeping me sober.
In other words, I'm just trying to follow suggestions. Doing it my way never would have kept me sober for 30 days, that's for sure!
Thank you for your support, and for helping me to stay sober for today... I pray for you daily. Please do the same for me!
Big hug,
Michael

Congratulations on 30 days Michael. Sounds like you have a great sponsor. You need to give him a hug and while you are at it hug yourself for being willing.
