YEAH!!!! ONE WEEK!!!!!

Today is one week!  I am so happy!

I have been doing great all day.  The only urge I had for a beer was when I was done with my workout this evening.  I made a glass of juice and am all good now.

I was taken aback by the people who have said that I am helping them and others stay sober by my daily posts.  I never expected that, but it is pretty cool, so here I am.  :)

I saw the location of the meeting place today when I was up north grocery shopping.  Now I just have to get there when I am ready.  I believe you all when you say how powerful it is.  I don't really have a reason as to why I haven't gone yet.

I am forgoing another social gathering tonight.  It is an annual banquet for my husband's profession.  There is an auction, mingling, lots of drinks, dinner, etc.  My husband joked and called and asked if I was ready to go yet.  Ugh, no, don't think so!  I'm cool in hibernation for awhile.  :)

Hope all are doing well!

WOW well don you!!! NOW, that is the first week under your belt, so when tomorrow morning comes, just start right over again doing whjat you did one week ago, and do it for every day, and those days will become weeks, then months then yearsetc.... BUT we still only stay sober for ONE DAY at a time. SIMPLES!!! Keep on keeping on.

Exciting stuff. Happy to hear both Franny and runnergirl are off to great starts and that runnergirl is finding meeting to be an amazing experience. Look forward to hearing Frannys impressions of her first meetings.

Congrats Franny on one week. Get to a meeting. Tonight is a good night, as your husband will be at the function. There is a good possibility that you will get a bit jealous tonight about your husband being off and having a good time (and drinking) while you stay at home by yourself. This is not a good space to be in as justifying a drink is likely. History has proven (millions of times) that, for an alcoholic, will power alone will not keep us sober. We need to learn much about getting and staying sober and we get that at meetings as well as support and people that will give us accountability just because they are there and know if we don't show up for meetings for awhile, somethings up. The other problem with getting sober on your own willpower is that we tend to rationalize that that same willpower can translate into controlling our drinking, which is what every good alcoholic really wants in his/her heart of hearts. Do the right thing and get to a meeting before you lose what you've worked hard for because chances are good that you will without a support group. Heck only 1 in 20 alcoholics, that want and try to get sober, make it to a year of continuous sobriety. Do you feel lucky? smile.gif

Hey Franny, congrats on the week. Nicely done. In my experience, meetings give us a chance to celebrate milestones like this too. And there may be someone there who needs to hear your story about your one weeks sobriety.

Congrats, Franny, that is awesome! I hope you get to a meeting and share how well you are doing. Others need to hear about your success.... and in helping others, we help ourselves.

For me, going to the meetings is one of the best parts of recovery.... I so look forward to them, they really charge me up and I feel so great afterward.

Hugs,
M

I appreciate the support and responses.  :)

I think I do need to go to a meeting.  I'm getting a lot of support from my closest friends and husband, but it is different I think.

Still sober.

Franny

Hey Franny! Personally I am amazed you made it a full week on your own. I never made it more than a day by myself. But I am celebrating one week today too. I have found the meetings to be just so incredibly helpful I can't believe it. Also, I can't believe how many friends I am making!

I haven't been able to spend much time here lately so it looks like I missed this post Franny. I'm so proud of you that you've made it for 7 miraculous days, one day at a time! Congratulations and good going!
