I wanted to write and thank barefoot Bob but he died last year in January but his website has been left open , it's really a wonderful legacy he's left behind for all of us, he'd been sober since 1974 up until his death in 2009.

I have been following that site for a long while, he has a ton of letters Bill sent to the grapevine, and is very helpful in sorting out questions dealing with steps and traditions both, such as this example

http://www.barefootsworld.net/aatrad3-gv-feb48.html

I like his precise use of language, to join and be a member of AA there are no "musts"

when he asks, "Are there any conditions?" we joyfully reply, "No, not a one." When skeptically he comes back saying, "But certainly there must be things that I have to do and believe," we quickly answer, "In Alcoholics Anonymous there are no musts."

Doesn't matter what you do, say or believe, you are a member if you say you are

To Recover however is a different story, there are "musts", the one I always remember primarily is Above everything, we alcoholics must be rid of this selfishness. We must, or it kill us!

Nice find, BigV. I went to post his homepage for this website and it was so highly political that I took it down.
Too bad.

His main page was the political stuff and the AA stuff was added later. His family ought to separate them, as it probably is in conflict with some traditions.
