Oh boy - another heavy weekend

..but not heavy as in boozing of course.

Spent a few hours with one of my sponsees on Friday night, after the meeting, before launching myself into helping one of my friends move house.

Well by move house, I mean pack up his and his wife's goods and chattels, taking some into my home and some down to his MiL's. We must have had the worlds oldest, most knackered van, wouldn't pull over 50 mph, did about 20 mpg, had been to the moon and back a few times, power steering was shot, front bumper held on with gaffa tape, driver's seat wouldn't adjust and the gearbox so shot that you had to double declutch to change gear. But it was cheap!

That was Saturday, and today we drove down to Heathrow Airport - where my pal and his wife boarded the big iron bird for Australia!

In around five years my pal and his missus have gone from unemployed and unemployable to employed, modestly living and saved enough money to go to Oz for a year (with a view to settling permanently). She even has a job and a home waiting for her and he is just waiting for a work permit and has a job waiting. From a flophouse to a penthouse for real!

They went to Oz for their honeymoon (6 weeks in all) hooked up with the fellowship over there and things have just taken off.

So now one of my best mates has left for the other side of the world, I'm fostering his cat (the fattest cat I've ever seen) and I'm not sad! How good is that?

Bill,

I had to look outside to make sure you did not have my van. LOL

 You described it well.

Hi Bill,
Love the van Bill. Reminds me of my 1st company car when I ventured out on my own 17 years ago. Sober, fed up with the corporate sector, saw how my AA friends lived, I made a decision to quit. Asked HP for guidance, but He asked them to fire me. No car, no money, only debt, no income, I opened my co. from my house. But plenty support and love from AA friends and family. Someone in AA was dangling his Merc keys at me and I said no thank you. Got transport- An old Beetle with no floor on the passenger side, dodgy brakes. Made meetings with that car. Most fun my wife and I had. Thanks for reminding me.
Gonee.
