16 days sober....

...thank you, GOD...
...thank you, AA...

...otherwise this would NOT be possible.

I've done something like 23 meetings in 17 days, and just following suggestions, keeping it simple: go to meetings, get a sponsor, ask God for help, read the Big Book...

Online resources like this are tremendously helpful, and sober podcasts are awesome to listen to in the car.

I can't say I haven't been tempted, but nothing like what I feared it would be, with God's help.... and that's the difference, I think. It's not my will anymore, but God's will for me.

Sleeping better, and man, I really don't miss those still-drunk-from-the-night-before mornings one bit!

Just a progress report, y'all.... thanks so much for being companions on my journey. I'm walking with you... hugs...

Just for today,
Michael

Great news,

Making all those meetings, fabulous!!

Happy 16th day!  BIG BIG accomplishment!!!!!

A Big Hug to you Michael,

Toni

Came back with a PS. Do you have one of those little black books, 24 hours a Day, there is a Thought, Meditation, and Prayer for each day of the year. It was surely a Godsend, carried it with me everywhere.  I am looking at a different copy, but the same book, sitting on my desk.  For me it was the best help in my recovery those first years, takes maybe 2 minutes for an attitude ajustment when I needed it, and the awesome comfort of it too, when I remember, helps to this day.....Hugs again. Great work!!!!

I sure do, Toni! I bought it along with my Big Book, and it became a part of my day right away, I really love it. I read it every morning and again at night, or at some juncture during the day.

Thanks for that, and I send you hugs.... hope you're doing well. <3

Thanks, Jerry... check that one off! Got a sponsor Friday night...he has some 30-odd years of sobriety in the program... just called him last night.

Day 17, here we come! Thank you, God.

Thanks for that suggestion...that's definitely what I'm shooting for. I do at least a meeting a day, but when I have a weekday off with lots of unstructured time, I go to a second meeting. Those days would usually be my worst drinking days, and I seem to need a little more help to get through them. So bookending the day with a morning or noon meeting and then an evening meeting has helped tremendously.

It's getting to the point where I really look forward to the meetings... I'm enjoying them, especially the feeling I get after them.... like I did a good thing for myself, like I feel connected. It feels great.

You sound fantastic.  You are a reminder to us that while often terrifyingly challenging sobriety is ultimately about  living a joyous life.  You're doing it!  Thank you for sharing, I hope you keeping going to meetings AND coming back here.
