Newcomers take heart!

The greatest promise in the AA book is that " God could and would if He were sought."
God promises us that He could. He also promises us that He most certainly would.

His job is to fulfill what He promised.
Our job is to seek him. He does not want our strength. He does not need our strength. The weaker we are, the more grace is given to us. That is why Step 1 brings so much of his grace upon us. It is an utter admission of my humanly impossible condition. What then? Step 2- Believe in His power. Have you ever tried a Step 2 prayer? How about saying," I believe that you will restore me sanity." I don't know how, but I believe you would. I don't know why, but I believe you would. I can't see. HE CAN. God is waiting for that feeble voice in your mind. Say yes I am willing to believe that you can restore me. Take heart.
God bless.
Gonee.

Excellent post gonee. Surely the most important thing to happen in my sobriety was for me to become humble enough to ask for help removing the obsession to drink from my brain and it was. I remember the mental shift from claiming that all good fortune was of my doing and blaming God for everything that didn't go well, to being grateful for all good that came about and looking for my part in those things that didn't. The later without shame and with the understanding that I am human and I will make mistakes. This is what John Bradshaw calls "Healthy Shame".

Thank you Gonee! nice to meet you...Yes my whole process is surrounded by my ability to each day strive to do the will of my God! A reading says"God has a particular plan for each of us and that plan is to become the person He wants us to be,however He will leave the details up to us.......so cool !,cause thats what my day is about "working out the details to be as close to Him as possible and all else will fall into place,,do I stumble and fall,?absolutely, but thats why they call it 'WORK, striving to do  His will, practising spiritual principles of the program but most importantly living it ,not  just talking it. you can tell  this knucklehead, million different things ,but what I see you doing will  teach me the most ..Have a blessed and productive day, keep coming back..smile

I may have welcomed you already, but if so, then you're getting a double welcome from me and nothing wrong with that, huh? I'm glad to see another member join us.

Great post, Welcome to MIP

Newcomers need to hear about the promises, The Big Book is full of them. But what they need to hear even more is that our experience is that they "ALL" come true if they work the steps.
