I have become a long distance runner. I find the long distance both challenging and peaceful. Im not going to win the race, but I will endure and embrace it. Its really hard but, I find its paralle (sp) to life and recovery very interesting.
I have recently begun to garden and do yardwork like crazy, which is bass ackwards considering what I do for a living
I also am a chess enthusiast, find me on Chess.com if you like, I am a bare beginner but I am usually playing in a few tournaments now with up to 100 people around my level and usually have anywhere from 20-40 games going at once. I recently got 2nd place in a tournament and was actually quite proud, they are pretty fun and I have met some great people. It has puzzles, lessons, live games, articles etc. it's quite fun
PM me if you want my user name

After a long stretch of "pitiful and incomprehensible demoralization" most of what I do today is fun. I am a shriner and I love to put smiles on sick kids faces.
Here is a photo of me giving kids a ride in my miniature tractor trailer parade vehicle.
My grandchildren tell me "Grandpa, you have the best toys"
Having fun and helping kids.
Larry, -------------------------- Today, give a newcomer one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine they see all day.
I like simple pleasures---my aquarium, cooking healthy food, photography and manipulating images in Photoshop (tradigitals), playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, going to the ocean and walking the beach, playing in the arcade, the "fun" if you will, of online recovery connections, doing anything with m'babe, day trips w/my sister when she visits, and the fun of planning for my retirement and "freedom" in the years that will follow!!!
Imagine my shock and dismay when I discovered that flying RC helicopters is both easier and much cheaper (less crashes to repair) when I'm sober. The best thing is, my wife recently bought me the most kick ass steam mop, so our floors are clean enough to eat off of. Not to mention I can now mop WHILE holding my coffee mug.
I work with beads and buckskin a lot. At one time I made Big Book covers that way but now I make all kinds of other stuff----purses, chokers, barrettes, moccasins, and other stuff. I do the beadwork mostly on a loom, which I have a bunch of different sizes and styles of. (No, not a single one is a little wire one. Those things will make ya crazy!)
I like to oil paint, write, crochet---I know how to do all kinds of creative stuff but my greatest pleasure right now is the bead and buckskin stuff. Oh yeah, I like to make dolls, too. I have a genetic condition that keeps me from walking a lot anymore but I used to like to do that, too.
Long-lost hobbies? Hmmmm. My son has gotten me playing music again. He discovered that his dad can rock and wants to add guitar to his repertoir.
Other than that I do the same stuff I did for the last 29 years; anything to do with a boat, fishing, hiking, fishing, bicycling, fishing, writing, fishing, woodworking and fishing. They're all just safer and more fun sober.
