Well, on top of a beautiful easter day here in east Tennessee, and as much good food as I could eat, I got an awesome chocolate cake and medallion for my 1 year anniversary today. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought this day would come. Today it seems like all my wildest dreams (that I didn't even know were dreams for me) are coming true, and it's thanks to all my friends and family here and in the AA program, and my HP for doing for me what I never stood a chance in hell of doing for myself.
Congratulations to you and your Higher Power! Yummmmm, chocolate cake! Such a treat for such an important day, huh? I'm very glad for you that you've had the opportunity to share sobriety for a whole year with your fellow alcoholics and that you've had the experience of seeing that the program of AA really does work if you work it. :D
Yup, chocolate cake . Here in our part of the country (east TN to be exact) we celebrate AA birthdays with a chocolate cake. There was even some left that I got to bring home. Thanks again to all my friends in recovery who have helped me get through enough 24 hours to make a year!
Rock on Reffner! I knew you would do it! Could tell from your attitude and willingness. I also appreciate that not all your posts were peachy and super happy... You kept it real and it was a good snapshot of the feelings (unexplainable ups and downs) I went through in the first year too. That was good for me to read and good for others to know to not give up no matter what... Congrats.
