Going out on a limb.......

First of all I would like to say I'm an idiot. I went out on a limb literally! I spent the day with my brother and my nephew yesterday. Got some work done around the house and decided to fly this kite my nephew had. We went to this field where there was only one tree and guess what happened? Okay, kite stuck in tree and I'm up there with it.
You would think now that I've been sober a bit that common sense would come a little easier? Situations that used to baffle us? Nah, not for this drunk! I'm gonna do it no matter what the consequences!
So I'm a couple feet from this kite about 25 feet up in this tree. I'm thinking if I go out any farther this branch is going to bend and probably not come back up. To heck with it. I said a little prayer and of course the branch bends and snaps. Free fall.............yahoooooooooo!!!
I managed to mostly land on my feet and didn't get hurt. Little sore but this too shall pass?
End of story, nephew has kite back and I'm not sure what's the major malfunction with my thinker?
Serious but laughable!
Hope you enjoy my story of undrunken stupidity!!!

Justin,
What's the problem?  You got the kite back.. right?  wink  I find myself in these situations often.   Even sober I can do some pretty silly things.  The problem with being sober and doing them is we don't have any excuses....  biggrin

After being sober for a considerable time I still find myself doing crazy things from time to time.

The big difference is now I can laugh at the crazy things.

Rule 62 applies here.

Larry,

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

LOL Hey, it's good to see I'm not alone. I'm living proof that a reasonably high IQ doesn't mean a person has any good sense. You're not alone in not thinking things through. I'm glad you didn't break anything but the branch.

I've heard it said that any crash landing you walk away from was a good landing

I'm seriously trying to figure out what the problem is here. Sounds like a normal day for me.
