going to AA meetings helps a lot to relieve stress. also try to reduce your caffeine intake to a minumum, since you don't need as much to counter the alcohol, which is a depressant. Eat 3 good meals a day, and sleep well, take naps if you can. Keep your sugar intake down, sugar causes mood swings. Try and get aerobic exercise for 45 minutes a day. And pray the serenity prayer.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Hello Zorono! Welcome to the family..Congrats on 10 days man<thats the beginning,,, put it down!!!Once we put down the alcohol and start"coming to" we'll face situations that we may have numbed ourselves before to deal with....I highly suggest finding a meeting near you, show up,listen, share if you need to and try to refocus your mind on things right in front of you, don't project about tomorrow ,or the bills or what can I do if I dont drink, who will hang with and all that .We all had those feelings thoughts and anxieties.Just for Today you wont have to drink, reach out to others who are 'working" their way and keep them close...Ask the God of your understanding to take your will and life and really surrender(make sure you admit you are surrendering)Physical things like Dean pointed out will also help channel some of that anxiety.Remember you didnt get here overnite so it will take time and effort but the miracle of remaining sober is unsurpassed.....Keep comin back let us know how your doing!!t

Just thought I might add a thought here, along with the above suggestions of going to meetings, TALKING about it, somehow even if for that hour, it can take the Power out of the Anxiety, and calm you some, really listening to others help YOU too.
And what I wanted to add, was sitting quitely, and practicing slow, very deep breathing....
This is the part of that saying," It is not easy, but it IS Possible!" Hope so much you feel some relief......
A Big hug, and that is a lot of hard work you are doing, and that is something you can feel good about.
Aloha Zorono and welcome. I agree with the suggestions you have already received and want to add...get an Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book from the nearest meeting, time and distance that you can find and spend quiet time reading it, especially the first 164 pages. Breath deeply and read slowly and just before you quit reading take time to reflect on what you've read and the similarities in your life.
Yeah getting off of the juice can increase your stress and balance.
Hey Zorono, It gets better. Don't give up five minutes before the miracle happens. Meetings are good, exercise is good and keeping your thinking very simple right now. Don't drink...get to meetings.
Early in I ate lots of candy and indulged in lots of selfish activities; long naps, TV marathons, whatever.
