Gateful, but COLD

Greetings, and happy new year to all my fellow A.A.'s.  I,m so grateful for all your support and help in keeping me sober for 9 months now.  Yup, I'm picking up my 9 month chip tonight.  Not only is it a first for me, it's the greatest miracle ever to happen in my life.  We (my wife and kids) woke up yesterday morning to discover that the heat in our house quit sometime during the night, and it was 45 degrees.  I tried my best to fix it, but to no avail.  I managed to borrow an electric heater from my sponsor, and hope to pick up more tonight at my meeting.  As we speak, it's still only 51 degrees in the house, only because of the heater and fireplace.  Sad thing is, I don't see us having the $$$ to fix it anytime in the near future.  In the past when I washmm drinking I can only imagine what I would be doing right now, but I'm sure I would be mad as hell and taking it out on everyone around me.  I guess it means we all crawl into bed together and snuggle up close :).  Anyhow, I want to thank you all again and wish you all the best year you've ever had in 2010.  God bless, and to all the new members, keep coming back so we can all help each other stay sober!

Brian

Brian,
Congrats on 9 months.  wink  That's a great accomplishment.  Good to see your using the principles in your life to avoid the irritation and anger that the heat thingy could've had on you.  Life on lifes terms.  Nice work.  Also, asking your sponsor for help is also a positive sign.  You'll have heat soon if you continue to do the next right thing.  God will reveal more....

Hi There Brian,

Congratulations on that 9 month Chip, you have surely worked hard for it, and the dividends just keep coming, right.

About the Cold, forgot to look up where you live in this country, but many Programs offer help/assistance with this from Community or County organizations.  Hope you might make a call to your Power company and ask about that. The cold that is gripping this country is all over the news, and feel there might be some sort of EMERGENCY help out there......

Ok for now, and on the intenet no less, here is one big fat, teddy bear warm hug to you and yours, now close your eyes, and see if you can feel it.....

Huggies, and sending love and Prayers that you will safe and warm in very little time.

Tonicakes

Congrats on the 9 months. When I was drinking I would have so used this as an excuse for an all out drunkathon! So grateful to be sober and think of ways to stay warm in a healthier way, huh? I think your family will appreciate the snuggles more than they would the drunk warm parent!!!
Good luck,
Chrsitine

Hey Brian -
51 degrees? In the nothern Iowa/Minnesota m]nesk of thewoods we call that "january thaw"!! smile.gif
That's why my kid's birthdays are all in Sept/Oct. smile.gif

Here's a quick-fix heating tip...
use your dryer exhaust to supplement you heating situation. Itr's just a dust and you can aim it wherevere you want.
