Hello from Singapore!

Just wanted to drop a quick hello now that I'm settled in Singapore for the next three weeks.  It's many degrees below zero back home right now...  90 degrees and humid where I am... Lovely, but I miss my children and husband already. Haven't had a drink.  I'm a little nervous about how the next few weeks will go, but I'll just try to stay sober day by day. I did have some help on the plane ride (Lorazepam), but I'm not even sure it did anything...  Anyway, ready to hit the hay, feeling pretty emotional right now missing my family; sleep is probably my best option for dealing right now!

Be well!

Hi Laurie, happy new year! You can make it through this trip sober. Look for things to do to occupy yourself when you would usually be drinking. There should be AA meetings there. Do you have an phone numbers of sober people to call if you feel the urge to drink? I'm sure that there are several women on our board that would be happy to talk to you. We'll be here for you. smile.gif

Aloha RC and good that you checked in with the family.  I have several fellows from local
AA who have made the trip to Singapore and done the area for their own reasons and
have reported that there is AA in the city...different but AA.   I also agree that checking
in with the MIP ladies is a very good support idea.   Hope you took a Big Book with you
for reference.   Have a good trip.   In support.  smile

Runnergirl,

Here are some healthy things to do in Singapore:

1. Go to East Coast Park and rent a bike.  The bike paths are great and quite scenic.
2. Visit Jurong Bird Park:  It is beautiful.
3. Experience the Singapore Zoo Night Safari.
4. Eat satay at the hawker center downtown.
5. Take a yoga or Pilates class at your hotel.
6. You must have a foot massage.  Can be painful, but it will feel great afterwards.
7. Shop.  You cannot avoid malls.
8. Visit Arab Street and Little India.
9. Go for a power walk after work.  Singapore is REALLY safe.  You can walk anywhere day or night.

Hope this is helpful.

Wow, Singapore!!!! How Exotic! I have a friend who passed through there just this week on the way to New Zealand & she said the airport alone was beautiful lol I'm with Joni after reading Azul's suggestions! I'm jealous in a completely useful way i.e. quietly motivated for a possible visit in the future! lol Have a wonderful time & check in as often as you can. If you can meet with fellowship f2f more power to you. If you would like a hotel phonecall at some time pm me with your details & I'll look up cheap calls on moneysavingexpert.com. I'll love to speak with you & keep any cravings at bay. Godbless, sister & have an amazing time. You deserve it. Love, Danielle x
