Have been so busy in the last few days, have not been on MIP, and when I opened it up, was surprised to see all the newly signed up new friends in this little family of ours, WELCOME to this little community or family. Hope so much you all will stay and help us stay sober.
Hey Toni, I second that! I've just spent a LOT of time catching up, reading all the posts. Awesome. Gotta love the Internet...certainly leaves no excuses for not being connected with the fellowship when live meetings are not do-able! And I love the way cyber sites expand the AA world from the typical 40 mile radius to the entire planet practically. Freezing cold here, fresh snow and a vigorous wind. Glad to be inside tonight!
Yes indeed !! We do need those new ppl to reach out for help. Therefor giving us the opportunity to help by sharing our esh ...which in turn is a huge part of our own sobriety.
Welcome and Happy New Year to all the Newcomers !!
Yes, welcome all who are new! AA works and so does this site. It keeps me focused on AA first thing in the morning and I feel connected to my AA kin worldwide. I love MIP and all you guys. Sappy sappy :) Happy new year everyone. It occurs to me that today is a good day for us all in that even if you have only a week sober you are carrying sobriety that started in 2009 into 2010. That is a great thing and only can give hope to us all. Hard to believe I started this journey in 2008 and here it is 2010. This site has been a constant the whole time and I am grateful for it.

I agree!!!! How truly wonderful to see so many new 'faces' here on MIP. It's wonderful to know that we are not alone and that we are all here for each other.

Where would AA be if it wasn't for the newcomers?? Well, I know where I'd be if I wasn't still in constant contact with a Higher Power AND newcomers. They're the lifeblood of the fellowship, which is why after 19+ years of sobriety, I still do 2-3 meetings a week, because when I was new and in need of lots of support, the oldtimers kept coming to meetings.
If I get a 12-step call who needs more meetings than I normally go to, I go to more meetings, to introduce them to other ladies around the meetings.
It annoys me when I hear oldtimers say, 'Well, I only do a couple of meetings every 3 months or so, I have such a great life I don't have time for meetings'
SELFISH B*****DS!!! And you have such a great life because??? Because the oldies stuck around to help newcomers, but you decide YOU don't need meetings, so the newcomers can go **** themselves.

Gosh Toni, This thread seems to be like a gratitude meeting with all the responses to it. This is great stuff. I especially am gratefull to the responsible members who make it possible for us to be here today. I am so grateful to the fellowship of the Florida members who made it possible for this Canadian to get through my first 5 weeks of sobriety. Special thanks to the Islemerada workers meeting at 6 or 7 am. It was good to get that one under my belt before having breakfast. A thank you to the Easy Does it club in Daytona Beach, the Dry Dock meeting in Ormond Beach, the West Side Club and all their special weekly and daily meetings in Kissimmee also the Breakfast Meeting in Buena Vista sunday mornings at the DoubleTree hotel. Special thanks to Liz who seemed to keep that meeting going. Special thanks to the Central Group and Old George who gave me a tongue lashing for thanking the Florida meetings for getting me through the 5 week vacation and that I would be ok for normal drinking when I got home to Canada. He shouted, "You didn't learn a G** D****** thing in these rooms did you. You aren't thinking of drinking today but in 3 or 4 days when you get back to Canada, this is a 1 day at a time program !" Thanks to him because i never picked up when i got home. I got to my meetings. I attend the Tues night meeting at 15 Church street in Kissimmee regularly at 8 pm. I make that my home group for 5 months every winter. Many are the meetings that I didn't mention but they were there for me. Thanks for all of them for without them i would probably be 6 feet under. Thanks again Toni for starting this thread ! God Bless YOU and YOURS Cliff !

Hope you will make a Post so we can all get to know you, and WELCOME to MIP, so good to see you. You now part of this little family......we all need each other to stay sober...
