I have to be away in Portland Sat. and Sun. to be of support for family during a surgery for my little cousin. I would like to go with a meeting schedule so I might use mapquest beforehand, as I might not have easy computer access then. I can't find the posts with phone numbers to help with meeting schedules in other places. Can anyone help? Are there ever online schedules?
Yes there are Online Schedules, I just went there and got stuck, cause I did not know what area you would be in....
Portland is divided into the SW, SE, NE, NW. So you will have to find out which section of the Portland area you will be in.
Just type in Alcoholics Anonymous/Portland, then click on the Meeting Schedule, and it will take you to a place where you will first have to designate which area you will be in..
I lived there for a while, and the very best meetings in the North area are at the Alano Club, everyday at noon, not sure about Sunday, but Monday thru Sat. for sure, although the Sat. meeting might be earlier. in a very large Mansion up on the corner of a hill. The story goes that this Alano Club burned to the ground, and when they rebuilt it, it was done in its entirety by all recovering Alcoholics that really put their creativity and love into this new Alano Club. When I first entered, I was almost shocked, stained glass window, top of the line georgous furniture. Hopefully it has been kept up well. Sorry, I was digressing a little, so ask someone which area will you be in, the NE, NW, SE, SW, and then a meeting that would work for you... This is a little city with tons and tons of meetings. although not all are everyday.....
i am crossing my fingers that you get to go to that Alano Club, a real experience. and the folks in AA in Portland, are very friendly, it is a city known for its friendliness. and very lovely city too, you will see that the whole city runs along this lovely Willamette River, with 7 Bridges to cross whenever you need to. Very lovely place. Andd the Bridges are all lit up at night, just so beautiful.
Wishing you a very good trip. Think your experience will be a great one.
You can Google it, but you dont have to, just put Alcoholics Anonymous/Portland,OR in your Spacebar.....and hit Seach..
An if you will not have access to any computer when there, then get the Meeting schedule and Print in now....
Hope so much that that surgery goes well, and you can write and tell us when you return. Little children having surgery, feeling for him and for you. Prayers going up for him....God Speed in his Recovery
.
Hugs, Toni

Got the info, thanks. They have many AA websites for the area. The first Alano Club there was founded in 1947. Lots of meeting choices. Mom is bringing the laptop. Has anyone ever brought close family to an open meeting? I'm sure she can arrange to do something else, but thought maybe I'd see if she wants to go with to one unless that is ill advised.
