How's everyone doing?

Well, it's been pretty quiet around here, I guess that means everyone is busy or just doing so well in recovery they don't have anything to discuss. I hope everyone is sober and doing great. Miss you all.

I have an AA meeting tonight. I really need one , life on the homefront is tough every now and then. Taking care of my 77 year old Mom and trying to stay out of my alcoholic husbands way. Life is never dull. I know I will hear something I need tonight if I take the cotton out of my ears and put in my mouth.I'm grateful today for my sobriety, the sunshine, my flowers, and the desire I have to help others.

Have a great sober evening.

(((Hugs)))

Alls good on the Aussie turf too...We have had a day of excellent rain. Not the drench and run off type...the nice steady soaking in type. Tis great. Did the toe test and have at least two inches of soppy soil...that is a very good thing out here.

Am in the midst of designing a pig tractor, and am off tomorrow to locate parts and get that happening. I have decided I like pigs so much, I'm going back to get another.

Spent the day with our new mate today. He spent last night in the hospital, and they found he had had a minor heart attack sometime in the last week or so (quite likely during a bust he had "to settle his heart" after 2 months sobriety).  I reminded him why he had said he was drinking - he just looked at me and said he didn't remember saying that. I told him if he can't remember then his heart mustn't have been giving him trouble before he started drinking.

He says his drinking days are over, but it is bothering me that there is not the same support for him here, that my mate and I were offered in the city - in terms of numbers. He is very much on his own out there on his farm with his cattle. Anyway, he's sober today and says he wants to stay sober, so we will just share what we can. He's buzzing and wobbling about on prescribed meds, but not drinking...sounding very positive today...counting his blessings and quite philosophical about life in the face of his health issues. He insists on driving himself (against docs advice) across to one of the regional towns for more tests tomorrow. In refusing our offer to drive him, he said it was time he got responsible for himself. I suggested he try out the unity thing...but he said No, he was responsible for sorting it out, so he would. Took my hands off, and said, Righto, when you get back though, I'll need a hand to practice unity, and need to build this tractor, and I can't do either of those things on my own. He said he'd let me know how he got on over there.

He freaked out on the God thing too and asked if AA meant sermons. I told him no, but if he wants to keep doing dumb or dangerous things and acting like we don't give a shit, he will quite likely end up with a few damnations on my part. He laughed and I genuinely think he likes having some friends. He is heaps proud but...will not accept help easily, despite the fact he quite happily offers it. I remember that...learning what to do with friends, and how to accept them and accept from them, once you find you have some, is weird at first.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi Gammy...This weekend i worked 20 hrs in a day and a half, then back to back shifts, so I took today off to regroup. Got some much needed sleep. Nowo I'm gonna clean the house.

I notice the board is like f2f meetings...people go on vacation or are doing so much during summer that it gets empty in here. My home group is the same way...we are packed(sro) during the colder months but as soon as it warms up we get less people.

Nic...sounds like your area of the world is alot like the southdakota/wyoming area. A month ago we had about 10 inches of good snow, and for the past 2 weeks we've had lots of rain. You can always tell the tourists from the locals cuz we are out there doing the happy dance when it rains.

You like pigs? My mom and dad always get a couple to raise, but I just like the bacon we get in the fall. I prefer the lambs. We just finished our branding of calves for the year, I always gotta go down to Mom and Dad's for that.

Funny about your friend...I did the same thing early on too. I would help anyone who asked but ME ask someone for help? Just couldn't do it. Hope it'll all work out in the end...sounds like you've got a good grip on it though.

Love ya all, cheri
