This site has helped my sobriety and i would like to share something new in my life.  without realizing it i have been 'twelve stepping' my best friend and former drinking partner.  She asks me how i am doing being sober and i tell her... LOL, as simple as that.... biggrin  the thing that i have noticed in me is,  my smile is bigger, my attitude better, my AA life gets stronger the more i share. and i am less negative!  and she wants what i have as much as i want a better life for her.  she is not drinking anymore, but out of fear.  she has survived brain surgery and knows drinking will kill her. period. she and i drank together for almost 30 years.  we fell into the victims and poor me group.  Now i choose to avoid being a victim and choose to accept  responsibility for how i react to what happens to me... AA, the steps, my HP, and my AA family get me past my old behaviors and into new solutions.  old solutions did not work but they were all i could see before i was willing ask God for help.
Thanks again for being here and helping me grow up.

Thank you, JJ :) Funny for me to thank you for saying all that though when you being here helps me so much too. I mean your help is gratitude enough lol My gratitude is good for you too so I'll say it again.. Thankyou! We both know that God works through people so we can give credit for that grace. It's part of the ties that bind us :) Godbless you & your wife. I'm glad she's benefiting too. May she continue to do so. Keep up the good work my dear friend & brother, Danielle x

Awesome share.  These types of things happen when you are working a good program.  I believe that elements of the promises come true throughout the process of working the program and the steps...not just after the 9th step (though that is no reason not to move through the steps diligently).  This would seem to be an example of self-seeking slipping away and gaining a true interest in your fellows.  Meaning...a true friendship which has healing powers due to god and the program working through you.  Just my take.  I have something similar going on with my best friend so I can identify.
