   Hello,
Woke up this morning and realized I was all that I had.
The good, the bad, the ugly , the beautiful, the sad.
God did not make a mistake when he made me.

I still have to work on self acceptance some. I am glad you finally got to that point.

a good way to work on self acceptance is to go volunteer at a VA Hospital, or Childrens hospital. You'll learn real quick that you've got it very good compared to these folks. Gratitude will come easy, happiness and acceptance will be yours. smile.gif

Acceptance of self is a must. When I seem to be forgetting that I read this poem.

THE MAN IN THE GLASS

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or wife
Who judgement upon you must pass;
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people may think your a straight-shootin' chum
And call you a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end.
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of life
And get pats on your back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Good one, Bob.

I have real problems with low self-esteem. But the longer I am sober the better I feel about myself. Steps 4 & 5 helped a lot.

AA meetings help a lot, too. We work on our defects, but we also laugh about them-- our own and others'.
