Aloha Family...I took and followed thru on a "community" 12step this morning with the local Liquor Commission. They are not aware of any class of person I am including recovering alcoholic or member of any recovering group. I do it because of all of the experiences and awareness I have been given on this journey of recovery. Of course they let me go first. All after me had an opposite issue...being approved to manufacture distribute and sell. I don't have that issue and my testimony was a tap root for a control process I have been working on for 25 years which hasn't had much success other than to inform and maybe that is what it is supposed to do.
Going first I offered the a consideration. "We know that we have the power and authority to approve new licensees and transfer others however in light of the information we also have regarding the negative affects...should we?" I have been attempting to get the manufactures, distributors and vendors to the solution table regarding positive control. This is my playing a part in the health of my community it is not a part of AA. It also confirms and affirms my own sobriety and relationship with my HP.
They never have any questions after the testimony. Accepted that going in the door. I have a legislative proposal that is wallowing in the legislation that doesn't include any automotive devices, lock-outs or the like. It is not prohibitive to those who don't have our addiction and can save tons of money and lots of lives however I have not lost awareness of what I use to let control me. It is still humbling.
