STICKY??

I often see these 'sticky' topics, and mean to ask about them, but have just been reminded about it, What are 'Sticky' topics??  I am used to using these sites, but certainly NOT from a technical angle.

My first train of thought was that they might be posts which some members might take offence at or maybe controversial, but none of the sticky topics are like that so for what other reason does a topic become STICKY???

Dean would know for sure, but if this forum operates like the fishing forum I used to frequent, a sticky is a topic that only a moderator can post, and it stays at the top of the topic list, never descending down the page.

The sticky reference is from Post-It Notes.

Good Morning....

Ditto to what Rob wrote, and my take is that the "stickys" on the MIP page, stay up on top, for anyone new coming in, like that 24 hour a Day Post that is almost always current, that Daniella is so great about getting in,  and so the brand new person, or someone thinking of signing up, could get a good feel for what the MIP Board is about.

Also, only Dean and Daniella, our current active Moderators can make a "sticky" Post.

Hope all have a great Thursday!!!

Toni

How do moderaters become? NOT that I want the job! I'm talking a lot recently about the traditions with my sponsor, sometimes in reference to MIP. As I'm beginning to become active in service with AA in my face-to-face meetings, I find I've become more curious about how AA functions and also how MIP works. Just like autonomous meetings? Is there a thread anyone remembers that I might look up?

Hey Averil,
The Moderators are very much like a King.  This video clip should sum it up nicely.  Think of St Pete Dean as the "King" and us as the rest.wink

turninggrey-- thank you thank you thank you!!!

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed that scene-- one of my favorite scenes from all movies of any kind. I literally laughed out loud!

I needed that. Thanks again.

I LOVE both those vids, my partner JC and I both love Pythons, and many people have said that JC looks like Tom Petty, which he considers to be a great compliment, though a lot of others think he looks more like Iggy Pop. biggrin
