I have been abusing stuff that we do not talk about in AA and I feel very tired old and depressed, I have to stop this, each week i say i will quit at the weekend.
Take a first step and then one day at a time. One foot in front of the other and you can climb any mountain. Also, getting a hobby might be helpful. I am thinking about taking up the guitar.
Hey, Big G - Gawd, I haven't said that for many years, one of the guys who helped me into recovery was called Big G, he died sober a few years ago God bless him, he fought the battle with big C and lost, sadly, but he did it with dignity, faith serenity and sobriety, a wonderful guy. His name is STILL mentioned in meetings, and his name is held in high regard, such a great ambassador for AA.
However, I digress, I just wanted to say HELLO from Barnsley. I have been to meetings in your neck of the woods over the years, and have met people from that area at conventions, and there are so many meetings there you're spoilt for choice, so pick the phone up, arrange to do a meeting TODAY, then do that daily for as long as it takes to decide which is the right meeting for your homegroup, then go to that meeting OFTEN, (some say go to meetings regularly, but Easter and Christmas come round regularly, so I prefer often)
On night's it's not your homegroup, pick other meetings. I was a daily drinker, so I needed a daily recovery, and it has been known for me to do THREE meetings a day through the bad times.
NEVER QUIT QUITTING

Serenity is Wanting what you have, not having what you want
Always remember non-alcoholic beers are for NON-ALCOHOLICS
Well, if it pertains to your sobriety Big G, we do talk about it. If it pertains to your serenity, your addictive tendencies, or anything that is affecting your program, you might need to get it out and share it. It's okay, wouldn't be the first time on this board that people have shared about issues that indirectly deal with alcoholism but actually are very important to our peace of mind as alcoholics. In my view...there is not much that is really off limits with sharing because we used to drink over everything and now we need feedback on how to handle "everything" in a sober way (especially newcomers like me). So, with that, I say share what you want....especially if it's causing you problems. That's what we are here for. Of course, if it's something that crosses into replacement addiction (which I certainly have) you might get advice to find help on another board. Either way, Chin up! Still sober right? That's what really matters.
