Prison? Me? No Way!

This is for all Brits on here who are interested in Public Information.  I am always invited along to Crime Awareness days in local schools, which are organised by the PMNW Trust, which is run by a Prison Officer of one of the prisons in South Yorkshire.

I can't begin to explain how good these days are, extremely enjoyable for us, the kids the teachers and the PMNW team and other organisations involved.  It is very tiring, as the Year 10 pupils are split up and placed in 'Prison Blocks' and are not allowed out of site of a 'prison officer' who are PMNW staff, or trainee prsion offices.

They go around the school, always under supervision and are shown workshops for all the organisations, and AA is very well respected, and I have been involved for 2 years now.

The last year, following a random survey placed us joint first with PMNW for interesting information, the honesty with which questions are answered and for presentation.

It would take forever to explain it all, so anyone interested check it out at this link

http://www.pmnw.co.uk/index.html

If you know who your P.I. Officer is, it would be good if they would introduce themselves to this trust and get involved in what is a very worthwhile day.

I love it, Avril. Thank you for your service. Our Intergroup is this Sunday in St Matthew's, Bootle. I usually go though it is some way away & Carl cannot make it this weekend. It was postponed from last week which he'd booked the day off for but couldn't this week so I will try & get a lift maybe from my other home group member. I know who our PI lady is & will give her this link for interest, Danielle x

I just got home from the PMNW day at a local school, and of the 5 years I have been associated with it, today was the best yet, reason being I took 2 fairly newcomers who had never done this type of service before.

I stayed in with them for the first 2 workshops, and Pete said he had to go at lunchtime, so I took the opportunity of having 2 helpers to go look around the other workshops, because for their first time ever, these two were absolutely fantastic, born naturals who were meant to do Public Information.

Come luchtime I asked Pete what time he needed to go and if he was going to stay for lunch first and he said, 'I'm not going anywhere, I'm enjoying this so much, there's no way I am leaving early'  Sara was just buzzing, and all three of us got such a buzz out of today it was a pleasure and a privilege to have been a part of it.

All 6 workshops ran over time because the kids were so enthusiastic and asking lots of questions, and the day ended with a brilliant and quite well-known singer, Lisa Kelsey live onstage.  This girl has performed in many well-known stage shows around the country, yet still supports the PMNW Trust, because it was partly due to PMNW that she was recognised for her taent at school, and was invited to join them on these crime awareness days in schools, and she is obviousy one rising star who hasn't forgotten her roots.

Sara rang me when she got home to say how much she had got out of it, so much so, she burst into happy tears on the way home, and was as high as a kite.  I suggested she go to her meeting 2nite and share about it.  Another fabulous sober day for my sobriety bank.

SOBRIETY ROCKS!!!
