Alcohol - The Great Remover

Alcohol is a product of amazing versatility.

It will remove stains from designer clothes,  and will also remove the clothes from your back.

If by chance it is used in sufficient quantities, alcohol will remove furniture from the home,  rugs from the floor, food from the table, lining from the stomach, vision from the eyes, judgment from the mind.

Alcohol will also remove good reputations, good jobs, good friends, happiness from children's hearts, sanity, freedom, spouses, relationships, and man's ability to adjust and live with his fellow man, even life itself.

As a remover, alcohol has no equal!

I don't think I'll drink any tonight

Alcohol will remove your peace. I agree that I will not drink tonight. Nice reminder.

Avril,
Thank you for the post.  Alcohol removes the power of choice.  I choose today to make change to further myself from a drink.  I started my day by admitting that I was an alcoholic and accept that I'm powerless not only over alcohol; but people, places, things and situations.  I made the choice to turn my will over to my higher power this AM.

CRIKEY O'REILLY!!! It didn't take long for me to become a veteran member!! Does veteran mean lots of posts, or years in sobriety or length of time on this forum?? OR just a boring old fart which I can happily admit to these days giggle.gif

How true. Interesting way to look at things. I totally agree with the idea.

Just in case anyon'es thinking I wrote this post myself - I didn't. I had seen or heard it somewhere once, and it just came back to me the other day and I looked it up on google, and there it was.

The one thing it won't remove is insanity.

Hi Dave,

Your response made me think, sure it will, Insanity will leave, when the Alcohol removes your Life. And sadly that does happen way too much, always.

Reminded of me of a man that was listening to others share about that bottom they had to reach, before surrendering to AA.

And the more shares, the more angry this man got, and finally he blurted out,  "There is only ONE Bottom to this Disease, and it is always underground".  Later I learned that he had lost his best friend to this Disease.
