Just got the documents for the holiday cottage in the Scottish Highlands. I misread the location when I booked it, though it clearly says Tomintoul it also said Glenlivet.

Yep, it's in Glenlivet and the travel directions are turn right at the cemetary, go through the DISTILLERY and turn left after 100 yards.

I've laughed like a drain at the irony, me, an alkie, turning right at the cemetary and then staying within sniffing distance of the place where one of my ex favourite poisons is made!

It's all in how you interpret the word "thru" now in your personal program BB.

Maybe a stop at the cemetary to visit with those who paid the ultimate price
with alcohol and a prayer of gratitude would be the "right" next thing?

Keep coming back...and you'll get "thru" the test.   smile

Damn Bill,
Can you change you plans? That would actually scare me. I am sure you will be fine, but it is my worst case scenario. On vacation, booze encouraged. I do not want to be a downer, but its not for me.

Well I could change plans but I want to go to Scotland and anyway, you can't move in the UK without being within spitting distance of a distillery, a brewery or a pub.

not being complacent but I've lived less than 50 yards from a pub since december
30th last year and still haven't been inside.

Where I'm going there are 5 meetings within a 1 hour drive, 2 or 3 more within about a 1 1/2 hour drive and more than 21 in Aberdeen about 2 1/2 hours away.

I shared on this tonight, I'm OK with it I just find it amusing in an ironic way.

I like Jerry F's thoughts.

Awwwww I'm just being a big sissy. You will be fine. I guess my radar went off because I slipped while on vacation. I like Jerry's thoughts as well.

Similarly...can't live in Ft. Lauderdale without being spitting distance from a gay bar. I might as well be on Castro Street in San Fran... I'm sure it will be great Bill because obviously your purpose in going is so so so much not involved with drinking and really actually the opposite...to have a sober, relaxing getaway. Besides, I also read that you searched meeting sites nearby and that of course significant lowers any chance of you getting caught off guard. It would only really bother me if I was made to go on a tour of the Distillery inside and out...other than that its all good. Your HP was setting you up for a chuckle I think...even though this is serious business in AA. Of course I have no idea of the significance of Glenlivet because I didn't drink anything but the cheapest alcohol with the highest proof. I guess the equivalent experience would be for me to take a vacation next to the Popov Vodka or Wild Irish Rose factory.

And Scottish meetings are well worth going to. Long term sober members still attending regularly and doing service, I loved it when we went there.
