how fortunate I am

i was just thinking to myself how fortunate i am. here i am at work, in my office at home and i'm on an AA forum. I spend around half an hour here before I start work. I read my daily reflection and As Bill Sees It and try to ponder on the words. i have a brief chat with my higher power (sometimes a bit more than a brief chat). when it all gets on top of me eventually I remember to hand it over. I try to live in the day but still plan for the future accepting that what ever I plan today for tomorrow may have to change.

i was talking to a work colleague last night, I'm transferring to the same department that he works for and they seem to be a bunch of bullies. am i worried - only sometimes because i'm not there yet so today is ok. Such a change from 3 years or so ago when i'd be already fighting the battles that haven't occured yet.

and through the day and especially at the end of the day I take a while to review my actions, to see where i have done well and where I can improve, to see if I need to make amends, to see if I have lived my day as well as I could.

this stuff should be taken in with mother's milk, it probably was on offer to me then but I wasn't ready for it. By God I need it and I want it now.

That about sums it up doesn't it? Once you work the 12 steps, it comes down to a simple, peaceful routine of staying in touch with your HP. Thanks.
