OMG another AA crisis requiring prayer
Permalink

My sober sister in AA, "M", has just hit an 8 year-old child with her car on the way home from a meeting this morning. My friend is so devastated, we are extremely worried about her. She will not give us any details, just asks for prayers for the child, and also, please pray for her. Child is in the Children's Hospital.

I am thinking to myself that it sure is good to be sober at this time, as there are plenty of people in my life needing support right now.

Thanks again

Have found out that M was getting donuts for the morning meeting, and was in a parking lot at the donut shop. The boy was running through parking lot, she hit him and then he bounced into another car. His ear was bleeding but he was conscious. Paramedics took him to hosp., they had to drill into his skull to relieve pressure, as he had a brain hemorrhage. This boy and also my friend need prayer right now so badly. Our AA friend, a counselor of 30 years, is with M now.

My sponsor and I are going to try to get ahold of her husband in a bit, and offer to bring something to eat later. M will need to eat and I know she is not thinking about that. Pray that god will show us how we can best help her. She is on the "edge" right now.

My heart goes out to your friend, that has always been my worst nightmare, since I don't have my own children to think about. My prayers will include a call for relief for M and the child and the family.

Godbless all of you involved. That is so sad & I feel for everyone hurt & frightened by this accident. I pray for a speedy recovery for the child & an ease to the fear & worry felt by those close. I'm sorry this has happened. I hope you're ok too, Joni. Bless you, Danielle x

Prayers for your friend and the child Joni.  Also prayers for you, as you keep showing me a good example of helping others and how it works.

Hi all... UPDATE:

M is doing a lot better emotionally, as the boy's mom and aunt called her last night and let her know that they do NOT blame her. This little boy apparently ran into the street and got hit last year! Poor kid! They said he has a problem with running off like this.

The child is in the induced-coma still from when they drilled and relieved the pressure on his brain yesterday, and they are going to try to bring him out of the coma today. Prayers, prayers. The doctors say he seems to be in good condition otherwise, and that there is a real good chance he will be ok. What a blessing that is, and I hope the reality is as good as the prognosis.

M is not beating herself up nearly as badly as she was yesterday, either. She was not sited, nor was the other car owner. The boy's mother and aunt being concerned about M's wellbeing has been a real gift. They sound like VERY nice ladies, all things considered!

Thank you for all your prayers so far, they seem to be working, right before our very eyes.

Good Morning Joni,

Thanks for the update, and thank goodness for that phone call to M, last night.

When I was out yesterday in a Parking Lot, and thinking about your friend.

Prayers for that little 8 year old boy, and all concerned.

Take good care of Joni today, and hope you have a good Sunday.

Toni

UPDATE: Looks like the boy is going to maintain all this normal functions. Awesome!! God, I cannot believe how resilient children can be! Although I do believe the credit goes to God, 100%.

And to boot, M says that the whole experience has gotten her out of a funk she was in for awhile. Meaning that she is focused on a great deal of gratitude now!!

Thanks again for the love and prayers,
Joni
