Really now, no reason for the title, just feeling my oats tonight. Another week sober, another weekend coming up in which to wrestle with my bathtub (screwed up my caulking last week... ARGH!), and best of all, I have not had the urge to drink. not had the obsession, in over 20 months now, since a 2 week relapse back in 07. That is such a blessing and a gift. A gift freely given to me by my Higher Power, and hand-delivered through the folks in AA.

Anyone out there struggling, it gets better, so stick with it. It gets better FAST too, the more we surrender and move on. It does not get PERFECT, but if you have a good sponsor to belly-ache to, you learn to live with the imperfection.  :o)

Happy evening to all. Shout out your gratitude, if it strikes you!!

Yay Joni...congradulations on the next day and then the next.  I've never done
the caulking test or is that the bathtub test.  The only time I ever drank was
because I wanted to good times or bad.   That's how I stopped too by the way...
because I wanted to.   I still remember what it was like and thank god for memory.

Have some cake and forget the tub for a while!  (((((hugs))))) smile

Thanks for that Joni.  What encouraging words.  I too have seen how much better things are when I simply choose not to drink.  I never stop being amazed at how simple this program really is.  When I take myself out of the equation, give it to my HP, and do the right thing, I truely can accept Gods grace and really start to enjoy a life of sobriety.

Encouraging words Joni and good to read them. as for the caulking on the bath (I take it that's sealing between the bath and the wall), fill the bath right up full with cold water, then apply the caulking, leave overnight, drain the water.

If you do the caulking on an empty bath, it will pull away from the wall and the bath side the first time you use the bath, due to the weight of the water (and the body) pulling the sides down a little.

Great stuff Joni! Congrats on 20 months! God willing, I'll get there too!

I'm hopeless at handy things, so very impressed at the caulking you're doing! :)

Morning Joni,

Have the same problem in one part only of a tile shower, I was told that I had to dig out any moisture, and let it dry, for days, the moisture, i was told would prevent the next grout from taking, then to seal the Grout.

So very different that what someone else wrote.

My vote, find a contractor to do it, And highly recommend that you go with
Jerry's vote, go purchase a little cake, your favorite, and then... when you think about your bathroom.......HAVE some CAKE, and forget about doing it.

Have a friend who boyfriend is pulling off all the tiles in his Mom's bathroom and re-grouting the whole bathroom. Well lets just say this bathroom has been "out of order" now, have to use the other one, for way over 1 month now.

Your Post title was priceless, you are one funny little bunny.

Huggies, Baloneycakes

Hahahahaa...... Love my MIP friends.... :o)

Toni, it is caulking just between the bath-tub and vinyl wall, not tile grout. No tile in this bathroom. That is different. Tile grout seals and hardens like hard cement. This is the rubbery sticky seal that dries but is still very pliable. Good lord, if I had to re-grout anything, I surely would be calling a contractor, and then on my way to the bakery to get that cake!! LOL!!!

Biker Bill, what a fabuloso idea!! I had never thought about that!! I will sit inside the tub while I caulk, I weight plenty enough at 5'9" and Viking heritage (LOL) to weight the project down. :o)

So anyhoo, tonight after my hubby's shower, I took a late night bath, and dried the tub. Then I ripped out the caulking-tape (total rip-off, no pun intended!!), and applied a glue and caulk remover that has to sit overnight. I will clean it all up tomorrow morning, and then spray with this anti-mold stuff. Then I will clean it with something that strips all the oil so the new caulk will hold, and then hit it all with the hair dryer before I re-caulk. I will have to post a picture when done!! LOL As this is fast becoming a Group Project, thanks to all of you..... :o)

It seems like since getting sober, I can handle a lot of stuff on my own, and I rather enjoy it too, not feeling like I am going to barf once 10am rolls around. I do not miss that sweating profusely, shaking, being pale and pasty with that God-awful hangover taste in the mouth, head throbbing and pounding, wishing I could crawl into a den somewhere and just fade off never to return. What a change sobriety makes!!!

I know this sounds like a totally guy thing... but I used "gorilla tape" which is a heavy duty kind of duct tape.  It has worked like a charm - too bad it only comes in black!

This reminded me of when me of when we were redoing our bathroom and my girlfriend was caulking the tub while I hung a mirror. She licked her finger to smooth out the bead of caulking and then forgot and licked it again. She said "Oh gross, can you pass me the mouthwash, I need to get the taste of caulk out my mouth". I giggled like a 8 year old for an hour :)

I need to give my Sponsor a call Today. I have been bellyaching left, right & centre just lately. My 2way prayer told me to call each of my family & my sponsor once a week from now on & I need to stay close & involved with them all. I have done this with my family. Funny how my Sponsor can come last. This is a "WE" program & I've got a great forgetter. I cannot do this on my own :) Thanks for sharing, Joni. Congrads on 20mths 1Day@aTime, Danielle xxx
