Hi. I am 37 days sober. I am so very grateful to have attended that first meeting on June 19th 2009. Since then I have been to a meeting almost every day and two some days. It's helping me to not pick up that first drink and to recognise that it is a daily reprieve. I'm exhausted tonight and have a thumping headache so I'll introduce myself properly tomorrow.

Hello Fa1rydust and welcome to the board. Thanks so much for demonstrating the proper way to get sober, by attending meetings daily, to a number of our newcomers. Somehow, when us veteran members talk about daily meetings I don't think that they really believe anyone does it, and consequently they have a hard time imagining themselves doing it either. I'm not mentioning any names here but if the shoe fits...
Welcome Fairydust, congrats on the now 38 days I hope :) Like all the other gazillion AA phrases that are out there, "Meeting makers make it" is one that I think rings true. It's pretty hard to screw up and relapse with a fixed meeting attendance schedule that you adhere to. I think it's critical not to stop when you "feel better" as well. With that, I'm thinking about Dean's shoe and why I go to 5 meetings a week now instead of 7. Hrm. Mo meetings mo meetings.

Wow ! thank you for all your kind and helpful messages. Have been to a meeting tonight. It is indeed 38 days Pinkchip ! No-one had suggested 90 meetings in 90 days at the beginning Dean, but I knew it felt right from the first meeting and have been fortunate to be able to access so many. It seems it was meant to be. I was anxious about the last couple of weeks away, but researched the meetings beforehand and managed to get to twelve in that area. It was so exciting to be given my one month chip on my return. I shall treasure that.
I like 'Meeting Makers Make It' Pinkchip... not heard that. I love my Daily Reprieve and Just For Today too...
Thank you all again for making me feel so welcome.
Take care.
I'll keep coming back.

It was driving me crazy trying to work out how to select one ......... I thought it was a simple matter of being offered a selection as I filled in profile, but there do not appear to be any....
So, by a process of trial and error I seem to have succeeded until I find the one I want... well past my time now.....
