Just seen CLEAN AND SOBER for the first time today! Can anyone recommend any other inspiring films like this?

While in detox they started Clean and Sober for like 10 mins then a AA meeting came and the movie never got put back on, so when I got out yesterday I rented the movie today and watched it and was really moved by it.  I think Micheal Keaton did a great job and even though the ending is sad I think it was a good movie.  I was wondering if there was any other movies that are like this as I am new to the whole sober thing still, almost 6 days now and this is my first ever attempt after years of abusing alcohol and I am truly determined to never drink again.  I heard that 28 days is good and when a man loves a woman but have yet to check them out, any other suggestions?
Thanks and bless you all!
Steve

When a Man Loves a Women is awesome.....though I watched it years before my problem began, so I can't remember how 'real' it actually is.  But it's a good movie either way.

Congrats on Day 6 steve.  I didn't respond to your posts earlier because I thought they were spam or something with all the other blue tags next to them.  In any case, I really wanted to commend you staying sober a day at a time.  Some people come out of rehab and drink on the way home, so good start.  If you want a video reminder of how crappy drugs and alcohol can turn your life "Intervention" is a show that you could watch.  Personally, that is now just too painful for me to watch and I hear enough and live it enough from watching others via meetings.  Right now Steve, I would just keep it simple.  You sound A LOT like me when I first started in AA...I did not feel "great" at all, but I was super eager to work the program, get into it and to get better right away.  Here is what I suggest:  Get a where and when for AA meetings and pick out one for each day of the week.  Start going and do that 90/90.  Try and find at least one beginner's meeting in that bunch because you do need a spot where you can talk as a newcomer and share your struggles in a way that other people will truly understand and support with the knowledge that you are new at this.  Reading the big book is a great start, but you need those meeting and a sponsor to bounce off what you are learning.  Anyhow, I wanted to introduce myself and say great job on the first 6 days.  You can do this.  Now go out and find some meetings!

Thanks, I will get to a meeting tomorrow as I dont have to work tomorrow, the only reason I have the blue tags is it asks if you want to add tags I believe its so that if someone uses the search option it will pop up. Day 6 and feeling great, just one day at a time! The only problem I have with meetings is I am naturally shy but I know I have to overcome this also!

AA works for all alcoholics if worked as well as you can do it.  It's okay to be shy and that doesn't necessarily have to change about you unless being shy is something that contributes to your alcoholism.  Personally, I am not that shy so my journey has been different.  The reason there are so many speaker meetings is that AA works for all of us if we let it and with an open mind, we identify with elements of everyone's story, even though we are different individuals.  I have told my story 2 times, chaired 2 months worth of meetings and am now secretary of one.  That is just me though and that's what I needed to do and where my sponsor led me.  None of this service made me an expert on anything, it just made me more accountable.  It doesn't make me better in any way than anyone else but it kept me coming back and sober so far and that's what really matters.  You will find your path and it will all fall into place as your higher power/god has planned.  I wouldn't have said that 9 months ago, but that is truly how it worked for me up to this point.  Keep putting one foot in front of the other and it's going to be okay.
