Sorry for the weird spacing, my space bar is being real touchy lol, gotta fix that soon. I am from Salem Oregon and wondering if anyone is from around here and can point me to some AA meetings etc, Im new with the whole thing, did get my first coin in a AA meeting in detox though and I treasure it! Im about to have dinner with my supporting family. Then will be back on here to check if there is any responses. Thanks for listening. Bless you all!

Just so happy you are here, detox is rough, but you sound great.
Thanks for the welcomes!!!! Yes I feel real good actually! I was surprised as I didnt really get the shakes or sweats and the doc was surprised to considering how much I drank (roughly 10 shots or so of vodka plus beers daily for years) Im 28 and half russian so maybe thats why, and Im sure the librium helped but today is my first day back home and I truly feel like a new man! Bookmarked the page and going to try to find some AA meetings around me here soon, also is there any other great forums like this to go to? I tried the chat on the main page but it didnt seem to work!
Thanks everyone!

Welcome, and way to go Steve. Like others have already said, start going to meetings ASAP. I've discovered that this program really works if you do what it asks you to do, which really isn't much. Stay strong and keep the faith.
Get a sponsor and start WORKING the Steps as though your life depended on it, because it does. The Big Book is nothing more than a basic text in which you'll find a set of swing-set instructions. Part A goes into Part B, Part B into Part C, and so on. In the end you'll have a swing-set with which you can get in the swing and SWING. Don't go down to the gym just to intellectualize and discuss what each machine and weight does, ACTUALLY pick up the weights, with guidance, and start lifting. The EXPERIENCE of the experience is light years more important than the discussion of the experience. Thinking brings about only one thing, more thinking. ACTION brings about change. You have a window of opportunity that will close shortly once the spiritual malady takes you back to the mental obsession about the drink. Once that rebuilds you are without defense and it's back to the stupid races. DO NOT TAKE YOUR TIME! Get busy and just do it!
