Directions to AA: Just go straight to hell and make a U-turn.

In AA, being part of something is more important than being the center of attention.

AA is not a sentence; it’s a reprieve.

AA doesn’t open the gates of heaven to let you in, it opens the gates of hell to let you out.

Alcoholic (as defined by self): A piece of crap that the universe revolves around.

An alcoholic refuses to give up a life of failure without a fight.

An alcoholic is someone who wants to be held while isolating.

I may not be much, but I’m all I ever think about.

If an alcoholic could drink like a normal drinker, he’d drink all the time!

Alcohol provokes the desire but takes away the performance.

Only an alcoholic would believe that the solution to loneliness is isolation.

Alcoholics burn their bridges in front of them.

An alcoholic is someone who finds something that works – and then stops doing it!

Alcoholism: Terminal uniqueness!

You will be rich when you know you have enough.

An alcoholic drinking’s three stages: impulsive, compulsive, and repulsive.

An alcoholic alone is slumming.

An alcoholic is not a guy who thinks he’s had one too many, he’s a guy who thinks he’s had one too few!

An alcoholic is a man with two feet firmly planted in mid-air.

Non-alcoholics change behavior to meet goals, but alcoholics change goals to meet behavior.

Alcoholics aren’t afraid to die, they’re afraid to live.

An alcoholic can be in the gutter, yet still look down on people.

Never forget that high bottoms have trap doors.

Alcoholism: If the cure works, chances are you have the disease.

Alcoholism is an equal opportunity destroyer.

Remember that any alcoholic’s bottom just may be six feet under.

Alcoholism comes in people, not in bottles.

WOW Rick-- this is my first time here on A.A., as I've been attending Alanon for about two years now on occasion.  Found the Alanon site about a year ago and have been there, but have always been curious about the insightfulness of that alcoholic and wanted to go to an A.A meeting just to listen.  I just rarely have time, trying to raise my two children as a single mom.  Anyway, recently my daughter had a sudden change in behavior with drinking, as she never drank before and we even struggled the last 4 years from age 11-15 to stabilize a sudden seizure disorder that developed in her.  She had always been naive, vulnerable, having had learning disabilities throughout most of her life because of this seizure disorder that I knew nothing about until it hit us suddenly at 11 years old.  She portrayed psychosis like symptoms, in which eventually led to seizures where she would lose consciousness.  NOW, with the alcohol involved--  I'm at a loss, just trying hard to understand what it going on in her mind.

The most difficult part about all of this is that if there was a resource available, we've been actively involved-- individual and family counseling for the past 9 years, in which two of those years we were in for 2-3 times per week as a family (the three of us, my son also) and on each of our own time with separate counselors.  Additionally, we became active members of our church and my children (including my daughter) even made her confirmation last year.  I had been so proud of her.  This sudden behavior scares me, as it is not like her and so I'm here reading the posts of some just hoping to get some more insight from that side.
