WOW..... the longer I stay sober the more I appreciate yummy healthy food (and chocolate too). My addiction prevented me from eating anything at all most of the time, much less decent food, for many years. I have put on some healthy weight in sobriety, and then a few extra girl-pounds just for good measure. LOL
But this summer I am enjoying re-visiting some wonderful flavors. fruits of all kinds. Cheeses..... MMMMMMMMM At the 4th picnic at my sponsor's, she had some fresh cheese from Amish Country, it was farmer's cheese with horseradish in it. Wow!!!!!! Yummo!!!
I sliced open a tomatoe the size of a softball this evening, and it was soooooooo tangy and juicy. I chopped up a green pepper too, and designed the perfect dip, which I will share with you now.
Joni's Yummmy Veggie Dip
Sour Cream Dill Weed Diced garlic (I like it from a jar, lots of good garlic-oil for the dip) lemon-pepper seasoning Seasoned Salt (or Big-Boy salt, for those of you who know what I'm talking about)
just mix em' up together, season everything to your own taste. I found that LOTS of dill and garlic are the key, and just a dash of the other seasonings.
Ready, set....... YUMMMMMMOH!!!!

I have a recipe! Though it's not as exciting, it is one of my regulars to save money! (actually cooking this tonight) It's enough to fill 1 person up good! and costs less than $1! (if bought it bulk; 12pack, etc) Men, you've gotta try this at least once..
Ty's "Baked Bean Surprise" What you will need: 1 package top ramen ( any kind - i prefer no seasoning pack ) 1 can of baked beans 2 hot dogs ( or whatever meat you want )
Step 1: Chop your hotdogs into small pieces, and microwave your baked beans for 1.5 minutes
Step 2 : Boil your ramen, and throw the hot dogs in there too. then drain all the water out. Some prefer to "smash their ramen" into small pieces. I prefer to leave it in it's brick form(for this recipe )
Step 3: Return noodles & dogs to pan, stir in your baked beans, put in a bowl and serve!
2 peices of toast make it even better!
Anybody else want some more $1 home made meals?

Sliced french bread (or your favorite type of bakery bread, about the diamter of a soda can)
4-6 Roma totamtoes
1 Block of mozzarella cheese
Italian dressing
Directions
Place the bread on a baking sheet. Layer each with a tomato and thin slice of cheese. Broil on low until the cheese is golden brown. Pull out of the over and drizzle a small amount of itallian dressing on each.
pasta, frozen peas and either shredded fried bacon and some runny cheese blended with milk and heated or a tin of salmon in tomato and basil sauce.
Chopped peppers, onions, cheese, boiled eggs, cooked ham, all chopped really small, warmed through in creme fraiche in a frying pan, served in warm flour tortillas,
Chopped peppers, onions, cheese, boiled eggs, cooked ham mixed with pasta and creme fraiche as a side dish to skewered, grilled chunks of meat with peppers and mushrooms, Basically, anything with pasta, or couscous, or bulgar wheat, or rice. barbeque anything. pork goulash.
my favourite, the Wigan Kebab, 3 meat pies on a stick. (that's a joke)
Slow dinners - stew or mince and tatties. Meat pies and mushy peas. Snorkers, cheesy taters and baked beans.
Posh dinners - moules et frits with mayonnaise, then steak, salad and chips, and the piece de resistance (Gordon ramsey - who he?) lentil soup to start, then Roast beef, Yorkshire Pudding, then more roast beef, roast potatoes, roast parsnip, roast celeriac, marrowfat peas, broccoli, cauliflower, gravy, then a light pudding of toasted oats, whipped double cream, honey and raspberries, followed by cheese, biscuits, fruit and maybe a cigar. allow at least 3 hours to eat and all morning to cook.
lord, I like food!

MMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! Poison, your dish sounds..... "interesting".... worried about the bean thang.... LOL toot toot!!! I used to make all sorts of concoctions out of Ramen. LOL I still enjoy a cup-o-noodles once in a while, and with some added peas and corn, tastes pretty good.
Squirrel, had to LOL..... It costs some MONEY for us gals to get sober, as we grow out of our scabby using clothes and have to attend to the business of keeping covered up in a more dignified and slightly larger way. LOL
Crystal!! I LOVE making homemade bruschetta!! But when I really want to do it well, I soak the tomatoes in olive oil, fresh garlic and tons of oregano beforehand. MMMMMM Have to make some tomorrow!!
Biker, LOL you definitely have some interesting combinations there!! LOL I do have to ask though, "Snorkers"???? And what are your meat pies made of?? You must be a Brit. :o)
My latest favorite quick sandwich------ flour tortilla wrapped with colby-jack cheese and a little taco seasoning powder on the cheese, microwave for about 20 seconds to melt cheese. Then, lettuce, sour cream, fresh salsa. Voilla', a veggie burrito, filling, yummy, and pretty darn healthy.
Jeesh, it is after midnight here, and I am about to raid the fridge!! LOL
